One of the more regrettable things about dissident circles is the infighting — especially when a particularly bold non-dissident wades into dissident waters without realizing it. Typically, such a person will bring their more mainstream values along with them and inadvertently cause a minor burst of havoc as worlds collide. It is not clear that the British government quite understands the habits of the mercenary soldier. After its dithering Foreign Secretary Liz Truss indicated that British citizens were free, should they so wish, to go to Ukraine and fight against Russia, she sympathized with these would-be Lord Byrons.
