The 1893 World’s Fair, also known as the World’s Columbian Exposition, was held in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus. Best known for its magisterial fairgrounds, the Fair was a landmark event in American history and showcased a large array of cultural and scientific achievements.
