Cormac McCarthy’s 2006 post-apocalyptic novel The Road tells the story of a nameless man and his son traversing what was once the United States in the years following an unexplained apocalyptic event. Most Canadians are blissfully unaware or too busily preoccupied by subsistence-level everydayness to notice.
