I joined the United States Marine Corps a little under 3 weeks after 9/11. I had planned to join anyways but the attacks sealed the deal as far as motivation goes. Looking back, even with the benefit of hindsight I still feel like overall I did the right thing for the right reasons. Sure, as I would realize later, I was actually signing up to serve a Middle Eastern nation’s interests, primarily. (more…)
