A tempest in a teapot started brewing nearly two years ago at Vermont’s Middlebury College which perfectly exemplifies the weak tea that the conservative movement has been serving these past several decades. College President Laurie Patton effected a clandestine name change of a century-old building on campus. Mead Memorial Chapel was to be renamed (or “de-named”) Middlebury Chapel. The chapel’s name had originally honored John A. Mead, a physician who served as Vermont’s Governor from 1910 to 1912. Both an alumnus and trustee of the college, Mead had contributed most of the money for the chapel’s construction in 1916. (more…)

It can be amusing to observe how Leftists get “triggered” by a line of argumentation, a phrase, or merely a naughty word. All it takes is a brief utterance, and they come unglued. Granted, some of that is probably play-acting, and some is imperious bluster, but there are times when they really do flip and trip because their brains are unable to cope. (more…)

In my near-infinite wisdom on all matters racial, I have noted two major personality flaws of thinking people: They become enamored by the elegance of their ideas to the point of neglecting reality, and they reflexively assume that all people are like them. Such a person might be called a midwit, but I prefer the term “conservative.”

“Sir, you are hereby charged with the crime of racism. How do you plead?”

This accusation is actually a hidden false dichotomy, where the correct response is neither admitting nor denying the alleged crime, but instead rejecting the concept itself. The appropriate answer is to say that this term means nothing to you, and then move the conversation forward. This sounds deceptively simple, but there is a lot more to it.
