I caught the last hour; very good, thanks. I didn’t catch whether Greg like only the essays or thinks the poetry of pound is worth the effort.
Most of Pound’s poetry is crabbed and unmusical. He had a bizarre inability to speak plainly. But his essays are fascinating and insightful. He also gave me a genuine appreciation of medieval troubadors and Chinese literature and philosophy.
Oh I must diverge! Pound’s poetry has that quality which I would call awesomeness. I read The Tree again the other day and came to understand it for the first time. Do you guys “get” it? His poetry is often highly metapoetical.
