Counter-Currents Loses Its Payment Processor Yet Again
Greg JohnsonLast week, we were cut off from yet another credit card processor – at least the fourth time just this year that this has happened. This means that for the time being, we are not able to receive payments for books or donations from credit cards. We are working full-time to set up a replacement – and rest assured, we will – and we hope to have one up and running in a matter of days.
Nevertheless, it is becoming increasingly clear that deplatforming might eventually make it impossible for us to continue supporting Counter-Currents through book sales and small donations from a large number of supporters, as we have always done. There may come a day – very soon, actually – when we will have to rely mostly on support through crypto-currencies and good, old-fashioned postal services. But it is likely that few of our supporters will make that transition, unfortunately.
Realistically, this means that if Counter-Currents is going to continue to grow, we must cultivate a smaller circle of high-commitment, high-dollar patrons. I know you are out there. Until now, you have been part of a much larger donor pool, and you could take that into account when calculating your support. But now, we can no longer take that for granted. So I would like to talk to you about increasing your support to make Counter-Currents less vulnerable to deplatforming. If you want to help out, please contact me at [email protected].
We are starting to lose count of how many times we have been deplatformed from payment processors – as well as other platforms, such as social media – this year. This means that we are doing something right, because there are people out there who are afraid of the impact we are having – and in that respect, it is encouraging. But it also deals us a major financial blow, as well as a lot of extra work, every time it happens. So please, if you value what we do, make sure to support us in any way you can.
Thank you for your continuing support.
Sincerely,
Greg Johnson

Right-to-work & restraint of trade concepts need to be applied to protect us from financial deplatforming and demonetization – priority 1C alongside doxing protection and “expression deplatforming” protection.
I don’t see how this “Internet Bill of Rights” gets passed in the current environment without fellow travelers who aren’t pariahs, but under the current realistic rules of engagement, these measures seem to be essential to maintain the social leverage and gatekeeper-avoidance only the internet can provide.
As much as I disdain parts of the “extremely online” subculture we operate in, it’s the space where we operate most efficiently and we’ve proven ourselves the best at riding that tiger, albeit not without significant collateral damage and friendly fire.
Greg, If I sent a check for, say, $500 could you account that as both a donation and to cover my book buys during, say, a three months period? I have several donations and book buys pending to be charged to my MasterCard. I wouldn’t want to be surprised by duplicate charges. Best wishes. Laurence
Laurence actually none of those donations or book purchases went through on your MC. This is my fault. So you need not worry about double charges.
Hi Greg and CC team,
Just an idea but maybe you could open up pre orders for books like “white identity politics” and “the great replacement” etc so that we can send the money for the book + shipping now (while you have payment processing methods that don’t require crypto).
Will do that.
Start taking orders through that one payment method that can be used for donations (I won’t mention it but you get the drift). Take the orders and hold processing until you get the D’nation.
It isnt really possible I am afraid.
I wonder what TRS are doing right to avoid this?
TRS doesn’t pose as much of a threat to the “system” as Counter-Currents.
That is one of the reasons.
TRS sold its soul to remain up and running.
That is unfounded speculation presented as fact. I don’t permit that, even of people I despise.
Can you not open an account on say PayPal under the name of a fake, neutral looking business which receives payments for orders under code? For books use code “B” with four digits (that is possibly 10,000 books. I think that would be sufficient). For example your book The White Nationalist Manifesto is code B0001, your book Toward a New Nationalism is code B0002 etc. For your clients you could publish a list on Counter-Currents of all the books you sell with their codes, arranged alphabetically after the name of their authors. For donations use”D”. For a unique donation, use “DU”, for a monthly donation use code “DM”, for a quarterly donation use code “DQ” and for a yearly donation use code “DY”. For eventual other things use code “O”. If you fear such codes would be too obvious, use any other code which you think would arouse less suspicion. PayPal is so big, they cannot control everything. If you appear “normal” you will fly under their radar.
The SPLC or ADL would buy one book, make a phone call, and the account would be shut down.
I don’t know of this could be of help but perhaps it can. Unfortunately, my software career was with older technologies and I know very little about this but it sounds interesting. It is P to P commerce that will use Bitcoin and is intended to be free of any censorship.
