The release of the new Jurassic World: Rebirth this week reminded me of the time in 2015 when a previous movie in the franchise was laughably smeared as being racist against Pakistanis. Simply called Jurassic World, some of the main celluloid baddies in this one were from a species named Pachycephalosaurus, [1] called Pakis for short by the blockbuster’s human characters. (more…)

On April 10, 1955 — Easter Sunday — Pierre Teilhard de Chardin collapsed and died of a heart attack in a friend’s Manhattan apartment. He was 74 and had done nothing more strenuous that day than take a stroll through Central Park. (more…)
