    Χάιντεγγερ εναντίον Παραδοσιοκρατών

    All the rage in L.A.

    6,994 words

    English original here

    Μετάφραση: Λόενγκριν

(more…)

The Rise & Fall of David Hume, Archetype

    Allan Ramsey, David Hume, 1766.

    5,513 words

    A Very Bad Year

2020 was a bad year for David Hume (1711-1776). Leftists in the United Kingdom, eager to get in on the feast of outrage that followed the drug overdose of George Floyd, complained that David Hume was a racist and should therefore not be revered. And then things went more or less as you would expect. (more…)

Heidegger’s History of Metaphysics, Part Seven:
    Kant’s Transcendental Idealism

1974 West German Bundespost stamp, commemorating Kant’s 250th birthday

    5,568 words

Part 1 here, Part 2 here, Part 3 here, Part 4 here, Part 5 here, Part 6 here

    1. Introduction

In the previous essay in this series, we saw Heidegger claiming that Leibniz “prepares” the completion of the metaphysical tradition, but that it is Nietzsche who actually brings it about. I will devote a future essay to Heidegger’s interpretation of Nietzsche, but we may note here that the completion of metaphysics would have been impossible without Kant, who answers Leibniz and inadvertently prepares the way for Nietzsche. Heidegger’s History of Metaphysics, Part Six:
    G. W. Leibniz’s Will-to-Power

    G. W. Leibniz Memorial in Leipzig

    7,567 words

Part 1 here, Part 2 here, Part 3 here, Part 4 here, Part 5 here

    1. Introduction: Leibniz and the Completion of Metaphysics

Gottfried Wilhelm, Freiherr von Leibniz (1646–1716) is one of the most extraordinary figures in the history of ideas. A true polymath, he was not only a philosopher but a physicist, historian, jurist, diplomat, inventor, and mathematician. (more…)

    Heidegger Against the Traditionalists

    6,918 words

    Greek version here

    1. Introduction

Those on the New Right are bound together partly by shared intellectual interests. Ranking very high indeed on any list of those interests would be the works of Martin Heidegger and those of the Traditionalist [1] school, especially René Guénon and Julius Evola. My own work has been heavily influenced by both Heidegger and Traditionalism. (more…)

Or: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Coronavirus (But Were Afraid to Ask Hitchcock & Heidegger), Part Three

    5,153 words

    Part 1, Part 2

The police are called, and Mitch is asked to meet the sheriff at the Fawcett farm. Some detectives from Santa Rosa are going to join them there. Presumably, Mitch is expected to repeat his mother’s account of finding the corpse of Dan Fawcett, its eyes pecked out by homicidal birds. (more…)

    Part 1 of 2

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

    Maurice Cowling:
    Ultra-Conservative Extraordinaire

    Cowling_Maurice9,406 words

    Editor’s Note:

This is the transcript by V. S. of Jonathan Bowden’s 2009 lecture on Professor Maurice Cowling. Unfortunately, the sound quality of the source is absolutely terrible, and there are many unintelligible passages. Both V. S. and I have racked our brains over this transcript long enough. Now we are crowdsourcing it to people who have a better ear for Bowden’s accent and the background knowledge necessary to pull words that elude us out of the buzz. (more…)
