Pierre Van Den Berghe’s 1981 work The Ethnic Phenomenon is an attempt to assess race and ethnic relations within a social science and evolutionary biology framework, but without the impediment of ideology. That it doesn’t quite reach this lofty goal shouldn’t subtract much from its value—especially in a historical sense. In many ways, it can be considered the missing link between Edward O. Wilson’s controversial 1975 work Sociobiology and more familiar classics of the Dissident Right such as Kevin MacDonald’s The Culture of Critique (1998) and Frank Salter’s On Genetic Interests (2003).
