The recent film Oppenheimer brought a renewed interest in the history of atomic espionage. The names certainly echo throughout history: Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, David Greenglass, Morton Sobell, William Perl, Harry Gold, and more. Then there are other notables, more obscure but whose activities were considerably more damaging than the above-named. One was known in the Venona decrypts — a batch of intercepted Soviet cable traffic in the 1940s — by the codenames FOGEL and PERS. It still remains a mystery who “Perseus” really was, but this might have been Oppie himself, among other possibilities. (more…)

Oh, Almighty God, centuries ago thou raised a magnificent Mission, a harbor for all of peace and freedom. This was the Alamo. Today we ask thy blessing, thy help, and thy protection as once again history is re-lived in this production. We ask that this film, The Alamo, be the World’s most outstanding production. We ask this in the name of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns world without end. Amen. — Invocation recited on the first day of The Alamo’s production (more…)

Part 1 of 2
The first significant anti-Communist victory in the Cold War’s early years did not involve any soldiers. In a century filled with warfare, the two principal contenders in this fight were men who were just too young to have served in the military during the First World War and yet too old to have served in the tragic and disastrous Second World War. American culture is still spinning wildly from the assassination of US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963 by a self-radicalized antifa gunman acting alone. American liberals and Leftist sympathizers in particular have had a tough time dealing with the murder. Kennedy’s widow later remarked that “[JFK] didn’t even have the satisfaction of being killed for civil rights. It had to be some silly little Communist.”
Jacqueline Kennedy’s remarks perfectly sum up the snobbery and inability to read data that is essential to the mentality of JFK’s political base. Jacqueline Kennedy could have rightly pointed out that Kennedy died fighting Communism in the same way he’d valiantly lived fighting Communism. (more…)

Countless multitudes recently undertook an annual ritual: making New Year’s resolutions. Surely one of the most popular is to begin an exercise program. For regular gym rats, we observe that the January crowding starts to taper off by February. Perennially, it’s clear evidence that there’s a problem in following through. However, you can take extra assurance by a recent Time article, which tells us that getting fit isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the white thing to do. Thanks, mainstream media! (more…)

Part of the ongoing narrative about the ongoing Ukraine War is the idea that it is analogous to the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Believing this analogy means one thinks this conflict can be resolved by hard thinking, a bit of compromise, and several diplomatic cables. (more…)

Imagine for a moment that the Cold War had gone a different way. Imagine that in 1962, a Soviet amphibious expeditionary force had invaded the United States from Cuba, conquering parts of America in the way that they had conquered Eastern Europe in 1945. Imagine that the Soviet army was turned back by American guerilla fighters working with the conventional American military. (more…)

Note: This essay, whose author wishes to remain anonymous, is based on a talk recently given at a private nationalist gathering in the United States.
History, as we know, does not flow evenly. Those of us old enough to remember the Cold War will recall that for several decades the east and west blocs faced off like two tectonic plates, as the world waited for an earthquake that never seemed to arrive. (more…)

On Monday, New York City’s Emergency Management agency released a short video (linked below) intended to advise residents on what to do in the event of a nuclear attack. The video rattled some, who questioned why it was being released now. While I think the reason for that is obvious, for me the video is more interesting in its utter ridiculousness, which I will detail here, as well as for what it says about how our rulers view themselves. A Conspiratorial Life: Robert Welch, the John Birch Society, & the Revolution of American Conservatism
Chicago: The University of Chicago Press, 2021Professor Edward H. Miller has written a solid biography of Robert Welch, Jr., the founder of the anti-Communist John Birch Society. The book’s only flaw is that it is written from the perspective of a nice white liberal believer in the mainstream media and the reigning “civil rights” narrative. For example, Miller actually mentions Welch’s “white privilege.” (more…)

Dis-United Nations: The Scramble for Power in an Ungoverned World
New York: HarperCollins Publishers, 2020About a year ago I ran into one of my old Army buddies. He’d been working a job that dealt with “foreign military sales.” That’s the tricky business of selling the export model of American-made military equipment to an ally without giving away some super-secret hardware, while not allowing said ally to use the equipment against another American ally.
