“Other revolutions only incite ambition — ours imposes virtue.” — Maximillian Robespierre
Year three of ROC — the Reign of Covid — will soon be upon us. The “old normal,” bad as it was, already has for me a faraway, nostalgic call. (more…)

The vision of fifties America as a sunny, prosperous world full of stable values and families has no truck with Billy Wilder. Having spent some time in the Weimar Berlin of his youth as a paid dancer for women, he got used to being used and rented out, if anyone can ever get used to it. He packed his cynicism with him when he came to America and easily fit into Hollywood. To Wilder, everyone has a price, and their most noble values and visions are up for grabs. (more…)
Colin Flaherty, author, journalist, and tireless reporter on black crime, has died. This is tragic in and of itself, of course, since, at the age of 66, the man was taken by cancer before his time. But for dissidents today, his passing has an even deeper meaning.
As of a few years ago, Flaherty was still a (barely) respectable mainstream writer who, while rankling many on the Left with blunt truths about black crime, still eschewed true dissidence. (more…)
Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. — John Adams (more…)
I came across David Cronenberg’s Videodrome relatively late in my arc of movie-viewing enthusiasm. It went well past the high school-aged fascination with low-brow horror (the original Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street) or college-years serial killer obsession (American Psycho or any movie derived from Ed Gein mayhem). The British mainstream print media has been struggling for years against a gradual decline in sales figures, which are the guarantee of advertising revenue, which in turn is the life-blood of the industry. As an institution, the United Kingdom’s press is fundamentally Left-wing, with even its purportedly conservative-leaning newspapers (The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Sun, and Daily Express) being nothing of the sort. In the final days of the holy Pride Month, the National Football League told the world: “Football is gay.”
The message came in a pro-gay ad released by the macho sports league. The ad also said that: “Football is lesbian;” “Football is queer;” “Football is transgender; “Football is bisexual;” “Football is American;” and “Football is for everyone.” (more…)

There’s a guy I used to be friends with on Twitter a few years ago. He was Jewish, but you would never guess. He would only mention it in passing once in a blue moon. (more…)

“Psychosis”: a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.
You wake up these mornings and ask yourself: how much worse is it going to get today? You skim a news story or an editorial coming out of the New York Times, Washington Post, or the Detroit Free Press. Or, perhaps you turn on CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News. Something is terribly wrong. You ask yourself: Where am I? In Moscow? Is it 1936? Why do I feel terror all around me? (more…)
