It seems the Christian versus Pagan debate has sprung up again in our circles and has kicked the hornets’ nest as to the direction that the Dissident Right must go in. While I believe that we must all be respectful to one another as we are on the same team, there is clearly a deep-seated animosity held by many Pagans and Nietzscheans against Christians. This dirty laundry must be aired and the bad blood of the Pagans taken to task. (more…)

In his Counter Currents article from May 20, 2022, “What Christian Nationalism Looks Like in Current-Year America,” Robert Hampton casts a critical eye on Christian nationalism. His thesis:
[Identitarians] think [Christian nationalism is] an ideology that can easily be racialized and used to defend white people . . .
In reality, Christian nationalism is an evangelical, multiracial, philo-Semitic circus that repulses young middle-class people. (more…)

Throughout the North, the ground still lies beneath a blanket of snow, and springtime seems a distant memory. Yet now, at the midway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, signs of nature’s rebirth are starting to appear: cold mornings give way to sunny, warm afternoons, grasses and blossoms begin to emerge, and the sound of birdsong once again fills the forest. The time of snow and ice is not yet past and the Earth still lies dormant — but she is starting to awaken.
The first weeks of February were of special significance to our European ancestors, and a number of holy days, now largely forgotten, took place at this time: (more…)

Asking “Is America a More ‘Christian Nation’ than Ever Before?” generated a lot of responses on Counter-Currents. My article looked into the argument that a post-Christian America continues to display strongly Christian characteristics, as even some evangelicals now claim. (more…)

If you’re a regular reader of Counter-Currents, you probably know that there’s a school of thought within the Dissident Right which argues for traditional Catholicism and integralism. We call them TradCaths for short. They’re a good bunch as far as people go. Sure, they might take their worship of G. K. Chesterton a bit too far and may not fully appreciate the man as a pioneer of the murder mystery genre (which he manages to merge with Catholic traditionalism in The Man Who Was Thursday, but that falls outside the scope of this essay), but at least they can be relied upon not to hurl invective at us . . . (more…)

“I was using the mountain to measure myself. The mountain is the means, the man is the end.” — Walter Bonatti (1930-2011)
People who climb mountains are like people who ride motorbikes or take illegal drugs. They tend to have a lot of friends who die young — or they die young themselves. (more…)

America First is shaking itself apart. Groyper wails on groyper in a bloody brother war. The Writers’ Bloc has therefore convened a panel of expert groypologists. Join Nicholas R. Jeelvy and Counter-Currents writers Mark Gullick, and Thomas Steuben as they discuss these recent happenings. (more…)

I attended Catholic high school at Cardinal O’Hara in Broomall, Pennsylvania from 1975 to 1979. I’d estimate that at the very most, 20 priests taught there while I was a student. At least six of them — Father Jones, Father Giliberti, Father McCarthy, Father Cannon, Father Gallagher, and Father Close — subsequently faced multiple allegations of sexually abusing schoolboys there. An enemy will always pressure you to act against your vital interests — whether by words or by force. Pope Francis proved to be the former kind — as if there were still any doubt — on Sunday, September 12 during a very brief, seven-hour visit to Hungary. He celebrated a mass before thousands of Hungarian Catholics at Budapest’s Heroes’ Square. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had a front-row seat, and later spent 40 minutes with the Pontiff, along with Hungarian President János Áder, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. (more…)

“Political Catholicism” can evoke a lot of things. Some on the Right may think of the Habsburgs, or some revanchist regime restoring throne and altar. Liberals may think it’s a hidden code for fascism, based on vague memories that the Pope supported the Nazis . . . or something like that. (more…)

The uprising of General Francisco Franco against the Leftist Republican Spanish government began in July of 1936. The fratricidal bloodbath that was the Spanish Civil War ended on April 1, 1939, with the Republican surrender to Franco’s Nationalist forces. The history of that conflict deserves intense, careful scrutiny, and for a number of reasons. (more…)
