In a recent article at The Epoch Times, “Erasing, Misrepresenting Canada’s History Erodes Foundations of Society,” a group of well-meaning and harmless conservative historians are cited at length expressing concerns about the tearing down of statues, renaming of buildings and streets, and overemphasis on Canada’s “racist past” without an acknowledgement that this nation has been “constantly improving” away from its “racist past.” (more…)

Like the rest of the West, Canada has been lurching from one supposed crisis of white racism to another, but this country’s specialty remains aboriginal victimology. The most recent hysteria flared up in June with “discoveries” of “mass graves” outside former church-run residential schools for natives. The furor triggered predictably sanctimonious outrage, cancellation of many July 1st Canada Day celebrations, arson attacks that destroyed several dozen churches, and international condemnation of a Canadian disgrace supposedly on par with the world’s worst atrocities. Editor’s note: The following is the English-language version of an interview with Greg Johnson by Rémi Tremblay for the Quebecois nationalist publication Le Harfang.
Rémi Tremblay: It’s Okay to Be White was written and published before Black Lives Matter’s recent rise. Has it changed your perception?
Greg Johnson: BLM has been around since the Obama administration, but since the death of George Floyd, it has been much more vocal and destructive. (more…)

Throughout the United States and Canada, we have an animal called the beaver whose behavior reflects the best of our nature. Like much of our population in recent years, the beaver is stout, and not very photogenic. He has tiny eyes and a huge nose, bright orange teeth, and when on land has a waddling gait like a penguin. The once-promising People’s Party of Canada (PPC) suffered a humiliating defeat in its federal election last week. It lost the only seat it had, held by the party leader Maxime Bernier, and garnered only 1.6 percent of the vote.
It was a bad start for the independent party’s first race, and it may bury the PPC for good. Bernier had held his parliamentary seat since 2006, but his departure from the Conservative Party of Canada proved fatal to his electoral chances. (more…)

Just a few months ago, I set off on a trip with some members of The People’s Party of Canada (PPC) to attend a rally for Maxime Bernier and the founding of the party. The individuals I shared the ride with were full of excitement and renewed vigor for democratic participation in the political process. The motto to distill the mood can be summarized as, “Finally we can vote on our values and not on cynical strategy!”

Lament for a Nation: The Defeat of Canadian Nationalism
Montreal: McGill-Queens University Press, 2005One of the oddities we find in the history of political philosophy is that the foundational text of Canadian nationalism is a work lamenting the end of Canada. The 1965 work of philosopher and theologian George Grant, Lament for a Nation: The Defeat of Canadian Nationalism, set off a wave of nationalism throughout the country. (more…)

August 22 marks one year since the release of Canada in Decay: Mass Immigration, and the Ethnocide of Euro-Canadians (reviewed at Counter-Currents here). I thought this book would have an impact in the long run as the first scholarly effort to explain the nature and origins of multiculturalism from a truly critical perspective, without kowtowing to the banks, politicians, and conformist academics. The Patriot Game: Canada and the Canadian Question Revisited
Hoover Institution Press, 1986The Government of Canada makes bafflingly stupid decisions. For example, since the Global War on Terror began on September 11, 2001, not one, but two Canadian “citizens” of Islamic, Third World origins have been awarded millions of dollars by the Canadian government after the United States deported or detained them for being active terrorists.[1] The Canadian government is also ineffective against the terrorism coming from the Sikhs in British Columbia. Social Credit Women’s Anti-War Activism
Perhaps surprisingly, given most SC men’s support for Cold War anti-communism,[1] a significant number of Socred women expressed opposition to war and violence. The anti-war perspective was an extension of SC women’s adoption of maternal feminist goals. First-wave feminists and Social Credit women portrayed wars as something started by men who were willing to send husbands, brothers, and sons to fight in useless conflicts that would break up families and destroy rural and small town communities, as well as introducing non-white migrants into Alberta.
