If history is written by the victors, we should assume that maxim applies to the current culture wars just as much as hotter exchanges. What we are witnessing, like onlookers at a 1960s moonshot, is a history which may be replaced one day, maybe very soon — expunged, overwritten, wiped clean like the blackboards schoolchildren used to be allowed to use.
