Happy Independence Day to our American readers!
It is easy for race-conscious Americans to become cynical about July 4th, which is now an occasion for celebrating an egalitarian civil religion fabricated from a misinterpreted line in the Declaration of Independence, “. . . all men are created equal . . . ,” sometimes paired with a line from Martin Luther King, Jr., the last person on earth who wanted to be judged by the content of his character.
No, Jefferson the slave owner was not envisioning a society in which all races had equal standing. Even if all men have the same rights, that doesn’t imply that they are all good fits for the same polity, and Jefferson had no illusions about blacks and whites being able to be free and equal in the same political system. Instead, Jefferson’s “created equal” line was simply a denial of the principle of hereditary monarchy and aristocracy upheld by England. Jefferson denied hereditary rule in favor of republicanism, which is the system of government put in place after the Revolution. The American Constitution says nothing about universal human equality, but it does prohibit hereditary offices and titles, which is the substance of “all men are created equal.”
I refuse to let a dying demographic of media believers spoil my Independence Day with their empty egalitarian pieties. I just tune them out. In truth, America is ours. As I argue in my essay “American Ethnic Identity,” Americans are a distinct white ethnic group. Thus genuine American nationalism is a form of White Nationalism, as I argue in my essays “What Is American Nationalism?” and “Is White Nationalism Un-American?”

You can buy Greg Johnson’s Toward a New Nationalism here.
America was never a color-blind liberal meritocracy. It was a society founded by and for white people, which maintained a frankly white supremacist immigration system until 1965 and to this day remains so “normatively white” that Leftists and non-whites will never stop seething about “racism.” They should be the ones boycotting the fireworks, not us.
Yes, America was not without flaws and contradictions, which is what led us to the present mess. But as with the whole of white civilization, White Nationalists are the true heirs of America as well, since we are the only ones who can preserve what is best in it and pass it on to future generations.

You’re absolutely right Greg. It is really easy for a race- conscious white person to be very cynical about the 4th of July.
Good to know there’s positivity out there, happy 4th!
Greg, I’ve come to appreciate “the ideal America” in large part because of your writing on the subject. Before that, I had written it off.
It may come out of this present mess missing some fur (and chunks of flesh), but here’s hoping the great strange beast survives.
YES!!!!!!
Happy Independence Day to all American readers of Counter-Currents! It’s always a source of pride for me to highlight the French contribution to the political independence of the United States of America. I hope the friendship between our two peoples will continue for a long time to come! We still have so many battles to fight together!

A daily dose of normal, to remember how things were:

I enjoyed that. I once recorded a Gunthy- Renker infomercial on the Best of Bob Hope. I was never much of a fan of Bob, but it beautifully reminded me of how we once had a country.
We’re supposed to be celebrating independence, but I don’t think we’ve ever been more dependent as a people and as a country, and our dependence only grows. Nonetheless, happy Independence Day!
Thank you, Greg, for this as folks celebrate “Independence Weekend.” I got to read one of my favorite authors, Andrew Hamilton’s, ten-year-old article “The Fourth of July, 2014,” and the good comments under it. You might want to add AH’s “Flag Fetishism” to the list of relevant articles, available at nationalvanguard.org.
[His] Own View:
In terms of racial beliefs the vast majority of Whites who fly the flag today are anti-White, philo-Semitic, and xenophilic. Their anti-White racism is by no means superficial.
To me the American flag is a symbol of the regime — not country — for which it stands. It retains no genuine connection to the historic American nation.
It represents hatred and the destruction of Western civilization, loathsome sexual degeneracy, and destruction of the family. It signifies anti-White racism, genocide, the blind, demented worship of ultra-privileged Jews and — derivatively and contingently — other non-White and anti-White races, intolerance, totalitarianism, vile acts of criminality and aggression at home and abroad, and the Communist imperialism with which it was historically allied.
It is hard to see what else it could possibly symbolize.
Ditto. My own feelings about that flag I once saluted, pledged allegiance to and even supposedly “fought for” while in the military is expressed here for anyone interested: “An Experience with the VFW” at nationalvanguard.org.
This website is so prolific now I can’t keep up. Nonetheless, a few comments:
To anyone (Sam Dickson), who thinks we can’t win an argument about the meaning of the assertion that “all men are created equal,” I wonder what you would say about people who clearly are equal. If you want to base immigration restriction on a claim of superiority, how do you suggest we deal with Asians? Kmac once said we are in danger of being ruled over by a Jewish governmedia elite and an Asian tech elite. It’s actually much worse than that. We’re looking at an East Asian tech elite and a West Asian governmedia elite. There aren’t enough Jews to rule over us without any White participation, but there are plenty of East Asians and high-caste Indians.
At one time, you might have convinced Whites that they’re just better than everyone else, but no longer. They have have had so much exposure to elite non-Whites that the cat is now out of the bag. Some of us even appreciate the mind-opening perspective that contact with intelligent foreigners can provide (Gasp!). I also happen to think that they can be persuaded to recognize the legitimacy of White ethnic interests, as we recognize theirs.
I suspect that most Whites would be very relieved to find that they can embrace White identity politics without thinking they’re better than other people! I certainly was. Arrogant contempt for others makes me feel like I need a shower. I’d rather just be pro-White. Like JT says, we have the right to be us, and only we can be us.
