An Open Letter to Scott Adams

Dear Mr. Adams,

Thank you for your recent video [2] in which you say some frank things about blacks and their prejudicial attitudes towards white people. Because of your statements, many more people are now aware that, according to a recent Rasmussen poll, 47% of black respondents were unwilling to say that it is okay to be white. Of course, this is not surprising. With virulent anti-white rhetoric constantly streaming from the media, our political establishment, and academia for decades now, it’s no wonder that nearly half the black population in this country now views whites qua whites with . . . disapprobation, to put it mildly.

Perhaps you are aware of this and didn’t want to put it so bluntly, but your initial reaction to this poll is perfectly congruent with White Nationalism. Yes, by refusing to say that it is okay to be white, nearly half of blacks do belong to a hate group. Yes, whites should try to get as far away from black people as possible. Yes, black neighborhoods do have more problems than white neighborhoods. Yes, white Americans should not try to solve black Americans’ problems. Yes, blacks don’t focus on education as much as whites do, and yes, this explains racial differences in life outcomes. And, yes, I am also sick and tired of watching videos of black thugs beating the living hell out of white people. Every. Single. Day.

So, I agree with you. There is no fixing this problem — at least not according to how our current society is organized. As you say, the best advice for white people is to escape blacks.

Well, guess what? That is exactly the platform of White Nationalism! If you read Counter-Currents [5] at all, you will realize that White Nationalists want escape as much as you do. They want it so bad they push for outright secession from our modern liberal democracies, which actively encourage racial diversity and tacitly support the anti-whiteism that you so heartily deplore. Why not try to get away from these people? Why not codify ethnonationalism in a political and philosophical framework, and then promote our interests as an identity group? It’s not like other racial [6] and ethnic [7] groups [8] don’t do this to great success. And it’s not like racial differences aren’t borne out by neuroscience [9], social science [10], political science [11], psychometrics [12], and police data [13].

Further, it’s not only White Nationalists who want escape. So do the less radical white advocates you will find over at American Renaissance [14] or VDARE [15]. Freedom of association — and not outright nationalism — is what folks like Jared Taylor ultimately want: freedom for whites like yourself to decide with whom they want to live. Seems like a basic human right, no? Yet whites in America today really don’t have that.

The black power structure in America seeks to do two things above all: consolidate black territory in cities through an indulgent attitude towards crime, poverty, and corruption (which serves to keep non-blacks out [16]), as well as invade white spaces. This latter effort is called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (as you know), and it has forced once-implicitly white organizations as diverse as the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing [17], National Aeronautics and Space Administration [18], Society for Creative Anachronism [19], and the Virginia Military Institute [20] to bend the knee to black inclusion (as I am sure you also know). Of course, it goes much, much further than this. Then there is Barack Obama’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing initiative from 2015, which President Biden is currently ramping up [21]. This means that any neighborhood receiving Department of Housing and Urban Development funding may be required to include disadvantaged minorities (i.e., blacks) through low-income housing.

There goes the neighborhood.

So, yes: escape. Let’s do it. But let’s also be serious about it. When you say, “I do not align with any group, not the white supremacists and not the black racists,” you’re not being serious. Of course, I’m not saying you’re being disingenuous. Rather, you are being unserious because the best you can do here is speak for yourself. You don’t align with any group because you can afford not to. You have the privilege as a celebrity to not need to align with any group. And by privilege, I’m not spitefully invoking the white privilege blood libel as so many on the Left do these days. As the creator of a beloved and enduring comic strip, you have earned whatever privilege you have — and good for you. I wish you nothing but continued success, and I do not begrudge you your privilege as an artist and influencer in our society.

But please remember that most whites don’t have such privilege. When blacks — nearly 50% of whom are in a hate group, as you said — invade their spaces, either at work or in their neighborhoods, there are only so many places to which these whites can escape. And the aim of the American black power structure is to one day prevent escape for them entirely. Blacks want access to whites, plain and simple. And they don’t care if that want is reciprocated (pro tip: it usually isn’t).

Also, don’t you think that membership in some “white supremacist” (read: pro-white) group would have actually come in handy for the victims in those “beat up whitey” videos you complain about? Wouldn’t you at least lend your support to a group designed to prevent this sort of violence to begin with? You cannot possibly believe it is just desserts that these white victims have no one to whom they can turn.

Since White Nationalism takes the needs and desires of these forsaken whites into account, it is a highly moral position to hold. You advise white people to stay away from blacks, and that’s great. But White Nationalists are the only people working on ways to actually make that a reality for all whites, especially the ones who lack the means to follow your advice. This is the difference between someone who dabbles in racial identity and people who truly take it seriously.

In any event, if you never breathe a word about this again, that’s fine. You’ve done your fellow whites a great service just by speaking up. It’s greatly appreciated. But if you are curious to learn more about White Nationalism [4] and white identity politics [22], I’m sure Greg Johnson would be happy to talk with you. You can email him at [email protected] [23]. Maybe if you ask him, he’ll tell you all the ways in which White Nationalism and white supremacy are not the same thing.

And that distinction might come in useful for you one day very soon. You have stated that you are not a white supremacist. Okay, fine. But since you made this claim only after uttering a litany of pro-white blasphemies, you may soon realize that it doesn’t matter if you say you’re not a white supremacist. It matters only if they say you’re not a white supremacist.

And unless you apologize real hard and real fast for what you said, I’m afraid that’s never going to happen.

Sincerely,

Spencer J. Quinn
