In the previous part of this series, I listed the 13 occupations that have the highest number of psychopaths, but didn’t comment on all of them in detail. In this series, I examine the remaining seven. These tend to have more psychopaths than you’ll find in a random section of the population, but not nearly as many per capita as in the previous six fields. Still, they’re more likely to employ a few bad apples which may spoil the bunch.

7. Surgeons aren’t quite as socially-oriented as most of the others on this list. The reason psychopaths are more likely to be surgeons may be that work dealing with blood and guts satisfies the psychopath’s need for stimulation. Also, the fact that psychopaths don’t blink more often when seeing others maimed may help them to be more level-headed as they cut through body tissue. Most people of course have strong instincts against cutting open another person, but because psychopaths don’t care about hurting others, they have no such hurdles to overcome.

Nevertheless, surgery is probably the most benevolent application of psychopathy because it helps save lives, but the cold-heartedness of psychopathic surgeons, which of course doesn’t include all of them, can do a lot of harm in people’s lives. Rather than figuring out the true cause of someone’s problems, they may show a cold-hearted disregard for them. This cold-heartedness can infringe upon their profession because they may lack remorse over manipulating people into getting ill-advised “elective” surgeries. The most obvious case of this are surgeons who perform gender reassignment surgery. Their lack of empathy for the people whose private parts they maim and dismember is disturbing. Plastic surgeons are better, but although the surgeries they perform are less harmful, they are often no more helpful.

8. Journalists are among the least trusted professionals in America (see figure 1). One of the correlates of psychopathy is being histrionic or attention-seeking. Journalists often exaggerate things to get attention. FOX News and CNN take turns bashing Democrats and Republicans, respectively, despite both parties supporting the legal mass immigration that’s making the US even browner than it already is. Their silly tabloid stories about politics, such as Trump’s alleged Russia collusion or Hunter Biden’s laptop, distract us from the real harm being done to white people: the loss of their once-glorious nation. Good journalists often get fired for not being sensational enough to get views. The profession seems to select against good people, to some degree. It’s a miracle someone like Tucker Carlson, who exposes the Great Replacement, has made it as far as he did.

Mainstream journalists, who are mostly liberals, are obsessed with stories involving black victims and white perpetrators. A lack of remorse must be necessary for them to mislead the public into thinking that white-on-black crime is more of a problem than vice versa — but then again, as Emil Kirkegaard says, maybe journalist culture is just an idiotic echo chamber [7]. While journos love making whites out to be oppressors, none dare criticize Jewish power, because factor 1 psychopaths like to kiss up and kick down.

9. Police officers get to dominate people. They probably have less empathy on average, since they are expected to mercilessly enforce the law (in most cases). They are probably also thrill-seekers, since their job involves danger.

Cops who abuse their power can get out of control. Whether it’s issuing tickets for no reason or murdering unarmed white people, psychopathic cops can do a tremendous amount of harm. While the media-academia complex reports on even the most minor incidents of police brutality against blacks, it remains silent on those innocent whites who the police actually kill, most of the time [8].

While cops are more likely to be psychopaths, we must remember that most cops aren’t psychopaths, that they take a lot of abuse from the Left and ghetto blacks, and that when criminal blacks attack, the cops are the ones who (ideally) are there to defend us.

10. It may be surprising that the clergy are among the most psychopathic, since religious people tend to be less psychopathic [9]. There’s a lot of crossover between the clergy and salesmen in some families. People in both professions like to flatter people in order to manipulate them into doing their bidding. This flattery can often lead people to commit sins of pride, which in turn can result in more strongly psychopathic people scornfully punishing them. Good preachers, on the other hand, encourage people to be humble.

11. Since psychopaths talk twice as much about [10] what they eat, it’s fitting that the profession of chef is among the ten most common occupations for psychopaths [11]. Obviously, most chefs aren’t psychopaths. Many are nice guys, but when they’re on the job, they can be petulant and harsh. Even Gordon Ramsay, who the media presents as a sort of cop among cooks, can be hard on people.

12. Civil servants have a virtue signal right in their title, because in fact they are not servants. They ought to be called civil overlords, because they don’t work for you — you work for them. C.B. Robertson notes [12] that in just one day, every private sector employee with whom he interacted was quick, friendly, and competent, while government employees were the opposite. They made mistakes which he had to fix, they were rude, and they took forever to do things. The reason government employees act like this is that the government has a monopoly over their services. There’s no one to compete with them, so people can’t punish them by taking their business elsewhere. This creates an environment for waste and abuse. Perhaps no other sector better epitomizes psychopathy’s parasitic aspect than government.

The higher a government employee is promoted, the less work he does. In other words, the higher he climbs the ladder, the more parasitic he becomes. Once he reaches the top rung, his task is to maximize busywork so he can justify petitioning legislators for more funding. And bamboozling politicians into giving them more funding requires charm, pathological lying, manipulation, a lack of remorse over wasting tax dollars, and having a grandiose sense of self-worth, believing that they deserve to squander taxpayer money.

Some government employees believe that if they follow their institution’s rules, they never need to question whether what they’re doing is right. All government employees must therefore be callous to some extent. Government jobs corrupt people’s souls — or at least attract more corrupt souls on average. Indeed, Washington, DC has the highest number of psychopaths per capita [13] because it is home to many government institutions.

It’s funny that psychopaths abound both in wasteful government bureaucracies and in the ruthlessly efficient private sector. They seem to be good at bending norms to either cruelly push people to their limits, or else corruptly make them do busywork. In either case, their lack of moral reasoning helps them to exploit conditions for their own benefit.

Most government employees are ordinary people, and many are good. But psychopaths and individuals high in subclinical psychopathy are slightly more common in government institutions. There is such a thing as a free lunch – or at least a sort of free lunch, in the sense of an easy government job — but while lounging on the government’s picnic blanket, watch out for snakes in the grass.

13. Porn stars are more likely to be psychopaths [14]. They probably score high in factor 1, facet 1 psychopathy because it is correlated with exhibitionism, and of course they’re professional exhibitionists. Facet 1 psychopathy entails superficial charm, a grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, and being manipulative. When these tempters and temptresses earn their money, they exhibit these characteristics. They use superficial charm in every aspect of their job. They also must pathologically mislead people into thinking that they’re enjoying sex even when they’re not. And of course they manipulate people into giving them money. They’re probably higher than average in terms of cold-heartedness as well, because they don’t bond with their partners such as monogamous lovers do. Although some research indicates that while some are that way, others are in fact merely outgoing and affectionate types who don’t limit their affections to one person.

Parting Thoughts

I wouldn’t recommend avoiding one of these fields if one of them is your dream job, but if you’re undecided or indifferent, then it may be best to avoid them for the sake of your quality of life. Surgeons and police offers seem like essential and usually honorable professions, so I wouldn’t discourage someone from trying to do them despite the higher frequency of psychopaths. Regardless of the career a young person chooses, I’d recommend reading Snakes in Suits by Babiak and Hare, because knowing the signs of psychopaths to watch out for is likely more valuable than health insurance to one’s net worth.

One may want to not only be cautious around people in these fields, but people who have close relatives in these fields as well, because as we saw in Part 1 [2], psychopathy is 45% to 60% heritable, so the increased risk may be there almost as often.

Finally, not all aggression from psychopaths is preventable, so when they do strike, we must find the strength to rebound and not let them keep us down.
