Are Qur’an-Burnings Helpful?

Nicholas R. Jeelvy

The type of Muslim both liberals and counter-jihadists want to encourage.

1,335 words

Rasmus Paludan, the Danish-born leader of the Swedish Stram Kurs (Hard Line) party, burned a copy of the Qur’an in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm on January 21. The act, which was permitted and protected by the Swedish police, prompted Turkey to withdraw its support for Sweden’s accession to NATO. While Turkey has been reluctant to grant assent to Sweden for some time now, owing to Sweden’s policy of granting asylum to Kurds and other enemies of the Ankara regime, it is likely that allowing Paludan’s Qur’an-burning to transpire was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The Qur’an-burning script is one we’ve seen many times before. Some self-proclaimed counter-jihad activist or politician declares that free speech is the highest of enlightened liberal values and that burning the Muslim holy book is part and parcel of the freedom of speech our grandfathers paid a heavy price for. He then proclaims that the Qur’an is a vile, illiberal book, comparing it unfavorably to Mein Kampf –which is where the term Islamofascism usually surfaces. He then may declare, seemingly unprompted, his ever-enduring love and loyalty to Israel and the Jewish people, who are the bulwark of democracy and Western values opposing the Islamic menace. He also reassures his audience that they’re not racist for being there, but rather are merely opposing the religion or ideology of Islam or Islamism, and proceed to burn the Qur’an. Thus the “radical Muslims” will be annoyed, in order to show them that free speech is alive and well.

Predictably, the Muslim response to this is unpleasant. In fact, given the typical Muslim in Europe, it’s often violent. But even a non-violent response is presented as Muslims being unable to accept free speech. The Qur’an-burners counsel them to respond as enlightened Christians, such as when they do nothing while so-called artists immerse crucifixes and Bibles in urine.

The Leftist media denounce the act, relativize the violent response (if there was one), and then nothing really changes — but at least everyone had a good time. Then, the Qur’an-burner, the Leftist media, and even the Muslims go back to their followers and claim some form of victory. The Qur’an-burner does so because he succeeded in accomplishing the act and attracted a lot of media attention, the media because they reinforced the Nuremberg moral paradigm by condemning the far-Right boogeyman with sufficient hysteria, and the Muslims because they did not let this insult against their faith go unanswered.

Each, of course, has indeed won, because each of the three sides in the drama has different objectives. The media has a moral paradigm to uphold, so they focus on controlling the narrative. The Muslims, more often than not driven by concerns of honor, are motivated to not allow an insult to go unpunished. The activist, however, craves media attention, because his ultimate goal is to raise awareness, which could uncharitably be described as “attracting attention” — words which would accurately describe Rasmus Paludan’s career as a politician and agitator in both Denmark and Sweden.

You can buy Anthony M. Ludovici’s Confessions of an Anti-Feminist here.

One wonders what the end goal is for such activism. Is the ultimate goal for Muslims in Europe to become as cowed and as docile as Christians are when they are subjected to insults to their own faith? If so, I can’t say that’s a positive development from an aesthetic viewpoint, first and foremost. Few things are as ugly as ornamental faith — faith not taken seriously. The lack of faith that European Christians exhibit is not something that adherents of other faiths should aspire towards.

I’ve personally had the misfortune of meeting a number of secularized Muslims, people who use Islam in the same ornamental way in which most Christians today use Christianity. The women may wear a hijab or a smaller headscarf, and the men may exclaim bismillah instead of “damn,” but otherwise they’re indistinguishable from their secular, globalized peers. I remember once seeing a young Turkish woman walking around wearing a light headscarf, which is supposed to protect a woman’s modesty, while also wearing a bikini top, with half of her bottom hanging out of her outrageously short Daisy Dukes. It is simultaneously one of my fondest (she was a very shapely woman) and most depressing memories: the hijab on her head concealing her hair, but revealing her hypocrisy. This is, of course, not an isolated incident. As I was recently informed by my younger friends, the phenomenon is common enough in Bosnia that it has a humorous name: Selam gore, bujrum dole — tastefully translated as “honor upstairs, welcome downstairs.” As much as I enjoy observing young women’s shapely bottoms, I am not a fan of faith taken lightly. And indeed, the Christian cousin of Selam gore, bujrum dole — the gaudy gold crucifix draped over silicon cleavage — is just as indicative of a faith becoming merely an ornament; a flavoring in an otherwise homogenized global anti-culture.

But even leaving aside my personal hang-ups, we have to ask ourselves what is achieved by burning the Qur’an from the perspective of white identitarian nationalism. How many browns will be deported as a result of the act? In what way will the Nuremberg moral paradigm be deconstructed? Will this act stimulate the development of white racial consciousness? Will it encourage white people to reproduce at a higher rate? Will it intercept and halt the actions of anti-white regimes? The answer to all these questions is no, with a possible exception concerning racial consciousness: Insofar as white people have a genetic tendency to be fair-minded and in a sense liberal, the resoundingly illiberal calls for censorship and retaliation from the overwhelmingly brown Muslims could hypothetically make white Europeans see them as more of an “other” than before. This would nevertheless remain inchoate and easily misled into various dead-ends, as we’ve already seen in the counter-jihad movement over the past decade-and-a-half that they’ve been kicking around. Moreover, if the problem is that brown Muslims are acting illiberally and are actually willing to make sacrifices for their faith, then the solution is not what we, as White Nationalists and identitarians, want to implement — the removal of browns and other racial aliens from European countries — but rather something that our enemy wants: the homogenization of Muslims into the denuded global anti-culture, just like the Turkish girl with her ass hanging out of her jean shorts.

A clever quip that I’ve seen floating around the Internet is that you’ll never see one of these counter-jihadists burning a copy of the Talmud, even though that text is orders of magnitude more hateful and supremacist than the Qur’an. This is of course true, but allow me to point out that burning the Talmud would not accomplish anything, either, except perhaps to draw attention to the burner. When it comes to tackling the Jewish question as a key part of implementing the White Nationalist agenda, our resources are far better applied to deconstructing gentile Zionism, exposing Jewish subversion and crimes, pointing out the alien nature of Jews, and generally revealing the Jews for what they are — piercing the veil of lies they use to cloak themselves as they ply their nefarious trade. In other words, the White Nationalist cause is far better served by reading and publicizing the truth about the Talmud than by burning it.

Rasmus Paludan’s burning of the Qur’an may have opened a geopolitical can of worms the effects of which will be interesting to observe. I have my own opinions about Sweden, Turkey, and NATO, as well as what ought to be done to ensure Europe’s security, but we’ll leave them for some other time. For now, suffice to say that his stunt has done little to advance the cause of white people in Sweden, has not meaningfully contributed to the effort to deport brown Muslims from Sweden, and in certain ways may even strengthen our enemy’s position. But at least he got those Muslims angry — and we know that whoever gets angry loses, right? RIGHT?

As a general rule, and as a resident of Sweden, I find Paludan to be an irksome provocateur. In this particular case, one couldn’t help noticing it came on the heels of a hanging-in-effigy of Erdogan in Stockholm, which caused the Turks to refuse a planned visit by the Swedish Defence Minister. And so I was inclined to think: Whatever works to keep Sweden out of NATO.

But I don’t believe the antics of jackasses have all that much effect on the plans of deep-state actors, unless they come at a particularly opportune/inopportune moment. There’s nothing going on between Sweden and Turkey right now. And thus as much as it feels good to see strife between the two states from an anti-NATO pov, it doesn’t make any difference.

Stunts like that will tend to make oneself look bad.  Surely there must be a better way to show the silly liberals that Muslims don’t share their values.

      I totally agree.

Things like Qur’an-burnings undermine us, make our concerns look like mere “xenophobia” rather than the reasonable ideas of honest and intelligent white men and women.  Plus, white people generally have an aversion to cruelty; a Qur’an-burning can be too easily manipulated to look like mere cruelty.

The problem with that: the not-yet-converted white people who see it are too easily convinced that the only reason we feel that way is for want of exposure to the noble culture in question that we’re terrorizing, and what we’re doing is mean, ergo, they rally behind the muslims against the xenophobes.

I have no problem with a Qur’an being burned, per se.  I also believe that Islam is an alien (to us) religion that should not be allowed in any white country.  But our rulers have allowed it, and its practitioners, in.  We must therefore be wise, not impulsive seekers of immediate gratification, when dealing with that particular head of the Hydra.

While I’m certainly no fan of Islam and have no desire for any of them to be in my country, anytime some Trad Con over-signals against Muslims in some melodramatic way I take it as the lazy man’s way to channel his inner racist without losing his seat at the “respectable” (i.e. mainstream) table.  That being said, I always thought it was somewhat curiously insane that we started importing more and more of them into the US after 9/11.  What the hell was the logic there?  Whatever it was, I bet it was hexagram shaped.

Fantastic article. I agree that these stunts validate the enemy’s premise – deracinated immediate gratification libertine consumption cattle.

Perhaps a door to door campaign to raise awareness of replacement migration or to donate funds to a family devastated by a crime committed by an invader. Or the contrast between a heritage homeless person with a five star “asylum seeker” The creative possibilities are endless

Is it wise or even useful to take a public stand in matters involving accelerationism? No, of course not. Is it possible that Russia used its influence on Stram Kurs regarding this accelerationist action in order to force Erdogan to block or delay  Sweden and Finland’s attempt to join NATO ( because Islamic medieval fanatism is a known reality)  ?  This is pure speculation,  and it could be false, but why did this happen in this particular moment ?  Why didn’t this happen after the Charlie Hebdo shooting in 2015 ?  The simple answer is that because there were no high stakes in play at that time. Of course,  there are some among us that look at Russia as the only force that stands between the anti white Marxist globalist systems in power in America and Western Europe and oblivion (see the Greg Johnson – Mark Collett debate).  For them this is OK any way you look at it. And then there are those that look at Russia as it is, a globalist empire that seeks to dominate and enslave other white nations  while being deferential to Jews, Muslims, and the Chinese. As long as we don’t kill each other because we disagree with each other,  we’ll be fine. Anger is energy indeed,  but it can easily be misdirected hy highly intelligent characters.

Jews promote this stunt to create conflict between Muslims/Christians.   As long as gentiles fight amongst each other, nobody pays attention to (((who))) controls the Media, Banks, Hollywood, NGOs, EU, Western governments. etc.   Europeans are living under the tyranny of by international Jewry!  A man was banned by Swedish police from burning the Talmud in front of the Israeli embassy a week later.  Why?  A call from the israeli ambassador was all it took.  So much for “free speech”.

10-20 Muslims have been expelled from Denmark and Sweden because of the crimes they have committed because Paludan and his actions offended them.

Besides that the police have used extreme amounts of resources to try and keep law and order in conjunction to these happenings. Emphasis on try. We win by making the most hassle for the system. By stressing it the most.

It has also helped push the Overton window towards more people speaking out against massimmigration from mostly Muslim countries. It has even inspired copy cats who make their own happenings in this vein.

Overall I think it’s good and he should keep doing them.

Some good tactical thoughts for reflection here, but I disagree with this:

When it comes to tackling the Jewish question as a key part of implementing the White Nationalist agenda, our resources are far better applied to deconstructing gentile Zionism, exposing Jewish subversion and crimes, pointing out the alien nature of Jews, and generally revealing the Jews for what they are — piercing the veil of lies they use to cloak themselves as they ply their nefarious trade. In other words, the White Nationalist cause is far better served by reading and publicizing the truth about the Talmud than by burning it.

I shall not be making friends here, and perhaps I’m too old to learn new paradigms, but I still think Jared Taylor’s Amren JQ-avoidance posture is the correct one. WNs are way too weak in every way – numerically, organizationally, institutionally, financially, and even theologically – to be able to effectively tackle that facet of our dispossessionist constellation of forces. As I keep reminding people, many whites (at least in the US) have Jewish friends. Others have Jewish professionals (doctors, CPAs, colleagues) they value. Far too many still think there is something religiously special about the Jews. Trying to explain the JQ to a modal white, even a normiecon, is probably the hardest of all walls to ascend. Why bother, when there is so much more “low hanging fruit” (ie, CRT, 1619 anti-patriotism, crazy-dangerous Defund the Police rhetoric in the face of constant black criminal savagery, an out of control southern border, worsening miscegenationist advertising images that even normies {at least in my little world} are starting to notice …) for us to capitalize on?

Imagine Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis were a secret WN, really down for the cause, and running for the Presidency. How could he best advance it? He cannot tackle very many things at once, given the intensity of the full-spectrum brainwashing that’s been going on for the entire lives (including mine at 61!) of most living white Americans. If he tried to present the entire white preservationist credo, indoctrinated minds would shut down in unison. So like most activists, he has to choose his battles carefully. How should he do so?

Presumably, given that WN has such limited firepower (even assuming this secret WN wins the White House), he needs to marshal and concentrate his energies either on the most important battles, even if tough to win, or on the most achievable victories, even though those will be on less important matters. He might be able to kill off CRT propaganda in the schools (I doubt it, unless there are wholesale personnel changes, which there won’t be due to government teacher union protections; those would have to be eliminated first, then most teachers replaced by anti-CRTers). But what kind of a win would that really amount to? How is WN actually advanced by teaching POC students the truths about US history as opposed to 1619 lies? Our goal is separation and new sovereignty for survival.

OTOH, supposing he set about building the Wall. After the migratory invasion at the border since the traitor Biden threw it open, an invasion that has even many non-Republicans (and nonwhites in the border areas) angry, I think he could get funding for it through C0ngress, especially if GOP takes the Senate next year (as they should by the “math”; though after the 2022 debacle, who knows anymore?). The Base is angry, and building that Wall is a surefire way to cement Base loyalty. But it also accomplishes something real, tangible. Halting the illegal component of the overall invasion is a huge help to us. It buys us more metapolitical awakening time (more accurately: not halting this border invasion is reducing our window of opportunity).

It also would show the pathologically cowardly mainstream GOP that doing something nationalist is popular, or at least not electoral death. Nationalists need victories, not just rhetoric. Nothing succeeds like success; nothing fails like failure. A victory on the Wall can open up the conversation about keeping out terrorist-producing ethnocultures; about birthright citizenship abuse; about Chicoms stealing places in STEM grad schools; about eliminating family-reunificationism; etc. But without nationalist victories, GOP will always default to its standard, color-blind “manipulationism”, its useless belief that “good governance” will defeat POC-ethnochauvinism, and so on.

The more nationalist victories, the stronger we will become. And the stronger we become for reasons having nothing to do with the JQ (and on issues for which at least some Jews  will support us), the stronger we will be if or when we do decide to confront the JQ.

The fact that the overshelming majority of the migrant traffic [specifically from nations that adhere to Islam] that heads towards the Occident does so out of nakedly material and hedonistic reasons, and whose apparent religiousty is taken with a pinch of salt by their own co-racialists back home, renders this obscene and disgusting act also utterly retarded.

The intellectually-challenged joker is trying to destroy a sentiment that has morality on its side.

He is dragging it on a battle front where it doesn’t stand any chance.

He is desecrating a Word that, among other great things, unambiguously recognizes human racial differences and declare them as divine manifestations.

I am sure there are honourable and intelligent nationalist Swedes [and other Nordics] out there who will not get ensnared themselves into this circus of distraction designed to exhaust their energies.

All the best to them !!

I am a bit late, but burning the Quran serves a very good purpose – framing the nation as hostile to Muslims and one in which this foreign faith does not have welcome. This in turn will deter further immigration from Muslim countries.

In European nations where the primary group used to replace the natives are Muslims, as is the case in Scandinavia, this practice will help the white nationalist cause. Conversely, where Muslims are not the main demographic threat (e.g. the US, where this author presumably comes from), of course the burnings do not make much sense.
