The Counter-Currents 2022 Fundraiser
The Counter-Currents Oral History Project

[1]603 words

This year, Counter-Currents aims to raise $300,000 to sustain and expand our work. Our fundraiser started on March 10th, and as of today, we have brought in $104,236.59, which means we are more than 34% of the way to our goal. Thank you to all our donors, who make our work possible.

Many Counter-Currents readers ask “How can I make a difference?” We believe that ideas shape history, which means that a great idea can change the world.

For instance, one of our readers recently wrote in to suggest that Counter-Currents start an oral history project, in which we interview movement veterans about their intellectual journeys, their activism, the people they knew and events they witnessed, and what we can learn from it all.

He pointed out that The Autobiography of Malcolm X, which had an immense cultural and political impact, was not written as an autobiography. Instead, it began as a series of taped interviews.

Another example of such a book that is much closer to home is And Time Rolls On: The Savitri Devi Interviews [4], which began as 10 hours of interviews recorded in 1978, which I had transcribed and then edited into a book under the pen name R. G. Fowler. And Time Rolls On is an excellent autobiography and introduction to Savitri Devi’s ideas, and I am still very proud of that project.

In 1982, Savitri recorded 7 hours of interviews in French. These interviews also cover her life and ideas but in less detail and with more disconnected historical anecdotes. Just recently, a French correspondent has agreed to transcribe these interviews, after which I will have them published in French and in English translation.

Imagine if someone had done similar interviews with Anthony Ludovici or Wilmot Robertson.

Years ago, Sam Dickson interviewed Revilo P. Oliver about his life and ideas, but the audio and video quality were disappointing. The tape is in the hands of a comrade, and when he locates and copies it, we will have it transcribed and make it available at Counter-Currents.

Marian Van Court recorded a series of useful interviews with Arthur Jensen that Counter-Currents digitized and published (here [5], here [6], here [7], here [8], here [9]).

I have recorded literally hundreds of interviews over the years, many with important movement figures who are now dead: Charles Krafft (here [10], here [11], here [12], here [13]), Leo Yankevich [14] (also here [15]), and Richard Edmonds [16], for example. All of these interviews are important, but none of them approach the sort of systematic and detailed interviews that could yield a biography.

Sam Dickson and I have talked about the importance of a systematic oral history project over the years. But there’s no time like now to begin such a project. Every year that passes means more people’s memories and contributions will be lost to the teeth of time.

But this brings us to another important matter. Great ideas can change history, but not on their own. They need people to champion them, and people need to eat, which requires money. Counter-Currents now has talented people who can record and edit such interviews. We have people who can manage an oral history project. But we need money to set everything in motion.

One way you can make a difference today is to support the Counter-Currents oral history project with a donation.

There are many ways you can help Counter-Currents:

1. E-Checks

The easiest way to send money to Counter-Currents is by e-check. It is as secure, fast, and convenient as a credit card. All you need is your checkbook.

GreenPay™ by Green Payment

Donation Amount

E-checks don’t work outside the US, but we now have a new way to send recurring or one-time donations from outside the US for very low cost. For details, email [email protected] [17].

2. Credit Cards

In 2019, Counter-Currents was de-platformed from five credit card processors. We applied to a couple of other processors but were turned down. In the process of applying, we discovered that Counter-Currents has been put on the so-called MATCH list, a credit card industry blacklist reserved for vendors with high rates of chargebacks and fraudulent transactions. This is completely inapplicable to Counter-Currents. Thus our placement on this list is simply a lie — a financially damaging lie — that is obviously political in motivation.

Currently, there are only two ways we can take credit card donations:

  1. CashApp as $CounterCurrents [18]! CashApp allows you to make an instant credit card donation without a high processing fee. Plus, it gives us an encouraging mobile alert when you donate! Boost the Counter-Currents staff morale instantly! Donate via CashApp!
  2. Entropy, a site that takes donations and comments for livestreams. Visit our Entropy page [19] and select “send paid chat.” Entropy allows you to donate any amount from $3 and up. All comments will be read and discussed in the next episode of Counter-Currents Radio, which airs every weekend.

3. Bank Transfers

It is also possible to support Counter-Currents with bank transfers. Please contact us at [email protected] [20].

4. Gift Cards

Gift cards are a useful way to make donations. Gift cards are available with all the major credit cards as well as from major retailers. You can send gift cards as donations electronically, by-email, through the snail mail. If you can find a place that sells gift cards for cash, they are as anonymous as sending cash and much safer.

5. Cash, Checks and Money Orders

Sometimes the old ways are best. The least “de-platformable” way to send donations to Counter-Currents is to put a check or money order in the mail. Simply print and complete the Word [21] or PDF [22] donation form and mail it to:

Counter-Currents Publishing, Ltd.
P.O. Box 22638
San Francisco, CA 94122
USA
[email protected]

Thank you, Boomers, for keeping your checkbooks, envelopes, and stamps. There are youngsters reading this site who have never written a check or put a letter in the mail.

6. Bill Payment Services

If you wish to make monthly donations by mail, see if your bank has a bill payment service. Then all you need to do is set up a monthly check to be dispatched by mail to our PO box. This check can be made out to Counter-Currents or to Greg Johnson. After the initial bother of setting it up, you never have to think about it again.

7. Crypto-Currencies

In addition to old-fashioned paper donations, those new-fangled crypto-currencies are a good way to circumvent censorious credit card corporations.

For those brand new to cryptocurrency, you can even use your credit card to buy cryptocurrency via Moon Pay here. [25] Then you can send your cryptocurrency to our crypto addresses [23].

8. The Counter-Currents Foundation

Note: Donations to Counter-Currents Publishing are not tax deductible. We do, however, have a 501c3 tax-exempt educational corporation called The Counter-Currents Foundation. If you want to make a tax-deductible gift, please email me at [email protected] [26]. You can send donations by mail to:

The Counter-Currents Foundation
P.O. Box 22638
San Francisco, CA 94122

9. Remember Us in Your Will

Finally, we would like to broach a very delicate topic: your will. If you are planning your estate, please think about how you can continue helping the cause even after you are gone. The essay Majority Estate Planning [27]” contains many helpful suggestions.

Remember: those who fight for the Golden Age live in it today.

Thank you again for your loyal readership and generous support.
