This film is about Frankism. There’s a short overview of the movement on the Rebbe Blog with lots of links.

might prove illuminating to some. (Oh yes, she is for real)
It has been many years since I saw the movie, but I recommend that anyone who watches it pay close attention to the interplay of colors and light, especially red and blue. This is a fanciful conceit that Kubrick uses to highlight the internal states of the characters, and how they are related to external events, like in a dream. This is easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, but once you notice it it adds a new dimension to almost every scene.
Its ironic that the film is about the subject of sex, and yet sex never really occurs on screen with the Cruise nor Kidman characters. He storms out looking for it. Whether he is frustrated with not getting it, or if it is somehow deliberate on his part is hard to say.
