Many patriotic Americans object to White Nationalism because they are told it is “un-American.” America, they say, was always a multiracial society, dedicated to the proposition that “all men are created equal.” Therefore, the White Nationalist idea of a society that bases citizenship on race is alien to the American tradition. Sometimes you read a newspaper column that starts off so pointlessly and insipidly you can’t tell whether it’s supposed to be a parody of bad writing, or the writer just wants to introduce a humorous idea but can’t find the right hook to hang it on. This article comes from a talk given at The University of New Brunswick on March 16, 2017 by Professor Duchesne. The attendance was about fifty, mainly students, about eight academics, and some residents from NB. The talk lasted about twenty-five minutes followed by Q&A for about seventy minutes. At the end, many came out thinking that Trump may be an Emperor, after all. (more…)
