Die Schultheiss-Bierstube

zwyciestwa129121 words

English original here

Ich blicke herab, sehe es gibt da eine neue Bank,
wo die Schultheiss Bierstube war,
in jenem Sommer 1934.
Es war ein Ort, wo Deutsche
ihr Märzen, Pilsener und Kölsch tranken. Das Sirren
von Sägen in ihren Ohren, den Blick
aus Fenstern aus dem Hochparterre,
auf Enten im Kanal, eine Saatkrähe
oben auf einem Ast. Der Lastkahn zieht vorbei,
tief gedrückt von Bauholz, Kohle und Stahl
hin zur Oder-Eisenbahnlinie.
Sie tranken so lange, wie Augenblicke dauern,
ihre Hoffnungen und Träume ausgedrückt in eifriger,
harter Arbeit in einer Mühle oder Grube.
Heute, kein Lager löscht den Durst,
kein Bier kühlt die Zungen. Die Gewinner des
Krieges sind wie die Fluchbeladenen bestraft,
Saatkrähen im Gefolge von schmutzigen Tauben.

I stumbled upon `Germany in the 19th century before WWIi` from a site SkyScraperPage Forum. Could not believe how beautiful central Europe was (Germany) before allied bombing raids. Not to mention The Golden Book on Frankfurt Am Main. Tragedy isn’t the word.
The most cutting site is Hell.html. The Cultural genocide.
