Counter-Currents/North American New Right Newsletter: June 2015

Dear Friends of Counter-Currents,
Here are our web traffic statistics and top articles for June.
1. Our Readership and Web Traffic
June was our best month ever in terms of web traffic. Moreover, we were well on our way to breaking 100,000 unique visitors before the Dylann Roof shootings in Charleston. But our subsequent coverage of the shooting and Roof’s manifesto did bring additional traffic. Increasingly, Counter-Currents is the place that White Nationalists turn for sober analysis of and commentary on such polarizing events.

7. Our Amazon Affiliate Membership
In March, under pressure from the SPLC, which was amplified in the pages of the Washington Post, Amazon.com dropped Counter-Currents from its Affiliate Marketing program, which earned us about $6,000/year — a substantial financial hit to a business as small as ours. The SPLC’s aim, of course, is to put us out of business. Fortunately, our readers have rallied to our aid.

Good to see John Bean in the top ten.
Did you kick up a fuss with with Amazon ? Did readers from here complain to Amazon ? I know the IHR had an equivalent problem with payment processing due to Jewish attacks, but managed to turn the thing around. I’m so sick of this one sided garbage. No one is allowed to make money unless it’s favorable to Jewish hatred.
Greg,
Can I ask what are your thoughts good, bad or neutral on Southerners protesting and fighting for the symbolism of the confederate flag and confederate monuments?
I think it is a good thing, insofar as it is another wedge between the system and whites.
That said, I don’t think that the plantation system of the Old South is anything to mourn, as those people were just the analogues of today’s anti-white, non-white cheap labor importing plutocracy. Southern planters have more in common with Yankee industrialists than with Southern farmers and workers, and today’s neo-confederates have more in common with working class people from New England or Wyoming than with antebellum plantation owners. But Southern nationalists LARPing about the Confederacy and damning the Yankees tend to be blind to today’s racial realities. Lincoln is dead, but the Jew and his servants still live. We need to fight today’s enemies, not fight one another because some people insist on living in the past.
Once Southern Nationalism is purged of error, there is nothing either in terms of culture of political interests that really separates it from generic American White Nationalism. Of course, I would have no objection to an independent South if WN ideas became dominant in North America.
The Confederate flag is now becoming a universal symbol of white racial consciousness and rejection of the system. I have declared myself a trans-Confederate. This July fourth, fly the stars and bars.
I think southerners become neo-confederates for similar reasons that other whites look up to the Third Reich. It’s not because they’re necessarily fascist true believers but because they see in it a value system and an accompanying set of policies that would have enabled them to avoid the present difficulties. (The aesthetics also hold vastly more appeal than the monstrosities of post-modernism.) If they do adopt the ideology it’s because they feel compelled to accept it as part of the package-deal rather than for reasons of deeply felt philosophical conviction. It’s important to be aware of this dimension in order to avoid wasting too much time condemning the ideology itself or these people for “following” it, because the effect of that condemnation is to ingrain their newfound convictions rather than to guide them towards something more productive. It works similarly with Christianity: condemn the whole damn enterprise and you produce martyrs; allow them to keep what they value most in it and they’ll often gladly ditch the burdensome peripherals. With Christianity the core values are salvation and redemption. With the Reich and Confederacy it’s racial identity. Support their core values and they’ll eat of your hand. Condemn the entirety and, well, it’ll be like that recent kook at TRS solemnly declaiming he’d rather live with southern blacks than northern whites.
Lots of the “damn Yankees” talk is based more on economic competition than historical grievances these days. Unfortunately historical grievances still exist, but when compared to Europe, it is more of a family feud than a threat to white unity. I don’t think the South would want to secede if WN ideas were par the course nation wide.
The South has seen a major influx of economic immigrants from states like Michigan, New York, and California. They are understandably moving here to cash in on our low cost of living and surplus of jobs. By doing so in large numbers they are raising our cost of living, taking both blue and white collar jobs, and bringing with them liberal politics which threaten to raise taxes, implement harsher gun control laws, and to create the same conditions here that originally drove industry from their states to ours. That being said our racial identity as Europeans should trump any regional or national identity. Also, Dr. Johnson, I believe you and your ideas would be well welcomed throughout the South. Well, everything but paganism.
@Verlis
To a modern Southerner, the Confederate ideology does not represent plantations, aristocracy, and slaves. It represents state’s rights. Not a state’s right to allow slavery, but a state’s right to conduct their own general business as they see fit within the boundaries set forth in the constitution, and a reaction to the abuse and growth of federal government power. No matter what the reasons of the Southern elite in the 1860s for pursuing secession were that is the part of the Confederate legacy modern Southerners embrace. In short, political libertarianism. Something many white Americans believe in throughout the nation. Of course, most importantly, the Confederacy also represents our ancestors who fought and died, not to defend their right to own slaves they couldn’t afford in the first place, but for their homeland in the face of an adversary practicing total war. Something which is more powerful than any ideology to the masses.
Reading your insightful comment it came across to me that you view Confederate ideology as quintessentially pro-slavery and anti-everyone else. If that was not your intended meaning I apologize, but having lived my entire life in the South I do not think those things define it. At least what it means to people today. I have never really been hung up on the Confederacy, but as you mentioned the aesthetics are quite appealing when compared to the garbage of our time. One of the greatest achievements of Europeans in America was our success in largely putting aside historical grievances from the Old World. Regionalism, in my opinion, jeopardizes that achievement.
The problem with Southern Nationalism is racialism is not a guaranteed component of it. With the hardcore League of the South types it definitely is, but they are a small minority amongst Southerners. I know many blacks who identify as Southern and actually fly the stars and bars. I also know many white Southerners who fly the stars and bars, but listen to rap and have many black friends. The average Southerner is ready to accept black Christians (read: nonviolent blacks) as their Southern brothers and sisters even if they do believe there are tangible racial differences between us. They will complain about the n@&&#^$ all day long, but put a well behaved black man on a church pew and they have no problem with them. This invitation to Southern identity is not extended to Latinos, Arabs, etc however. “Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.”
Great site. It’s good to see that your readership keeps increasing.
Congratulations on the site visits. Do you think your reaching out to the TRS crowd has contributed to the greater number of visitors? That is to say, WN proper is speaking to those coming out of the NRx milieu who are in good faith?
I am not sure what explains it, but this could be part of it.
