Counter-Currents Still Under Siege

Greg Johnson

805 words

RabbitSiegeCropThere is a new group working to shut down Counter-Currents. The Care2 website, which hosts petitions for various Left-wing and environmental causes, claims its “Hottest Petition” (more than 95,000 signatures at this time — it went up by a thousand as I was writing) is to “Tell Amazon and PayPal: Stop funding neo-Nazis and white supremacists!” And the one target mentioned by name is “Counter Currents” [sic], a “white nationalist publisher.”

To put this in context, Counter-Currents is now more unpopular among the extreme Left than the state of Indiana, which is also being targeted for economic destruction.

Since these petitions are all about moral preening and status signaling, the names of all the signatories are actually displayed. It makes for some interesting reading.

For a couple of years now, Heidi Beirich of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a wealthy and powerful Jewish hate group, has been writing letters to Amazon.com and PayPal to get them to stop doing business with Counter-Currents. The SPLC wants to put us out of business because they fear the ideas that we advocate.

Beirich, however, was frustrated with lack of progress until Caitlin Dewey of the Washington Post ran a story on her efforts, a story which focused almost entirely on Counter-Currents. It worked. Within a few days, Amazon.com shut down our Affiliate Marketing account, which was bringing in about $6,000/year. This is not much in absolute terms, but it amounts to about 20% of my meager income.

A few more hits like this, and I will have to stop working for the movement and turn Counter-Currents into just another Right-wing hobby project. There are legions of professional Jews, Blacks, and other non-whites, but only a tiny handful of full-time professional white advocates. And the SPLC and other such groups have people who are paid lavish salaries with benefits to starve us into silence.

Fortunately, I anticipated the hard times ahead and started our Summer Fundraiser early. In the first week, we received 25 donations totaling $3,101.33. Since then, we have received 30 more donations, totaling $2,744.27. Our grand total is now $5,845.60. In short, in a couple of weeks, our donors have rallied to basically make whole the loss we suffered through the SPLC’s good works.

Even more importantly, we have gotten a number of new donors, including new recurring donors, which is a very encouraging trend. Some donors have made symbolic donations of $19.33. Others have made donations of $315 or more, which is symbolic of the SPLC’s $315 million in the bank. We are now only 999,994 such donations away from having as much as the SPLC (which is just one of many groups lobbying against us).

I want to thank all of our donors for your generous vote of confidence.

Care4 Counter-Currents

I was tempted to set aside fundraising and get back to what I do best: writing, translating, and publishing. But the Care2 petition reminded me that the enemy never stops working to silence me, so I can never stop asking for your support. I want you to Care4 Counter-Currents. If you have not given yet, please give today.

You can make two different types of donations:

  • A single donation of any size.
  • A recurring donation of any size.

Recurring donations are particularly helpful, since they allow us better to predict and plan for the future. We have several levels for recurring donations. Please visit our Donations page for more information.

We can also customize the amount of a monthly donation.

There are several ways to make one-time donations:

  • The easiest is through Paypal. For a one-time donation, just use the following button:
  • You can send check, money order, or credit card payment by mail. Just print out our donation form in Word or PDF.
  • You can make a secure credit card donation direct from our Donation page.

As a special incentive, I will give an autographed hardcover copy of my book New Right vs. Old Right to anyone who donates $315 or more.

Since somebody at Amazon.com clearly thinks that your money is somehow tainted by association with our ideas, such that they do not want to pay even 7% for a referral from Counter-Currents, the next time you are tempted to buy something from Amazon, why not just donate the entire amount to Counter-Currents? (We got one donation last week that apparently originated from this train of thought.)

Please give generously! Please give soon, while you can. Let’s show these social justice kittens that every time they try to set Counter-Currents back, our supporters turn it into an opportunity. In fact, I am going to let Care2’s petitioners set my 2015 fundraising goal: $1 for every signature. At the rate they are clicking away, I am going to be working really hard to meet my goal. Let’s give new meaning to the phrase “Fuck you money.”

Thank you for your loyal readership and support.

I realize it’s not optimal, but, in a worst-case scenario, donations can be made to private individuals. True, it’s considered “taxable income” and, true, the whole situation is an outrage. But, such can be done.

Of course, I suppose the possibility exists that the deranged Left would then complain about the private account, but that I believe is getting into dicey legal territory. What if, say, Greg’s cousin wants to send money for his birthday. Can that service be denied because of activity that Greg does elsewhere? One would think that a rightist lawyer may take the case pro bono if such occurred. Kyle Bristow may be interested in advising? I remember that Yeagley won his case. I understand that the interference there was of a different type than here, and that a “Native American” may have advantages in the court system, but, still….

It may be possible to do a “work around” here, and may be possible to explore legal options (if need be) without expenditures of time and money by Counter-Currents.

For the impecunious ones here, who can’t quite come up with $19.33, maybe $14.88 would still be welcome?

    1. Greg Johnson says:
      April 2, 2015 at 12:43 pm

      Yes, of course.

  3. Greg Johnson says:

I don’t think it would hurt. Let me see if I can come up with an address.

With my order history at Amazon they already know my radical pro-Euro ways, it wouldn’t be any kind of danger for me to send Amazon a complaint.

I looked through the names on the petition list. It’s funny that many of the people signing are doing so from countries where C-C is not even accessible because of “hate” filters. I doubt many of the people signing have actually read this site; it’s just one big orgy of status signaling, expect the people are too stupid to realize that they are supporting the abolition of free speech.

    1. Greg Johnson says:
      April 2, 2015 at 2:23 pm

They obviously don’t think we are dangerous, or they would not put their names out there. If they really thought we were skinheads or the KKK, they would be too scared.

Of course, these people like to fancy themselves as courageous for holding socially-approved and state-protected, indeed state-enforced, opinions. I remember once that Deborah Lipstadt was hailed as courageous for attacking David Irving.

Care2 strikes me as an ideal data-mining concept. People sign up and then express their preferences by signing petitions. Then their names and preferences are sold to advertisers and fundraisers.

If I were a sinister Right-wing billionaire, I would buy or create a company like Care2. Just to know who my enemies are.

  6. R Ratzinger says:
    April 2, 2015 at 2:38 pm

Nathan Empsall, the ‘Senior Organizing Strategist’ at Care2 in DC, started this petition. So much for grass roots! That is, it’s his JOB to come up with ’causes’ that get a lot of ink.

    1. Greg Johnson says:
      April 2, 2015 at 2:46 pm

Yes, another professional termite doing his part to put me out of business and back in the hobbyist camp. Keep that “fuck you money” coming people.

I am going to raise one dollar this year for every signature Nathan’s petition collects. My annual fundraising goals will be set by the mouse-fondling social justice kittens who sign that petition. Every time they attack me, I am going to parlay it into new opportunities for CC to extend its reach.

Who knows, maybe at the end of the year, a proxy will buy me the names and contact info of all the people who sign that petition. Care2 lay a wager that every bit of data collected by Care2 can be bought by anyone with Cash2?

Unfortunately Abebooks is now owned by amazon.com. Bear that in mind when looking for alternate booksellers. Greg, I’m sending you a small donation and will have more on the way when I can afford it.

    1. Greg Johnson says:
      April 2, 2015 at 4:52 pm

Thanks so much. I appreciate it.

    2. Joseph Bishop says:
      April 2, 2015 at 8:59 pm

That is correct. As a point of interest, ABEbooks for many years denied that they would ever ‘sell out’ to any major behemoth corporation like Amazon, then they did just that. Beware of assurances!

  8. Joseph Bishop says:
    April 2, 2015 at 9:06 pm

Amazon btw claims that it is committed to the free flow of ideas etc. and will continue to sell politically incorrect or otherwise ‘controversial’ books etc. There is a fair amount on this subject of Amazon censorship on the Net, a lot of complaints and so on.

The whole business of censorship by Amazon appears more arbitrary than anything else, as sometimes they also censor far left items, homo items, and similar. There was protest from the far left, for example, when Amazon declined to sell a book that was a guide to pedophiles on how to do what they do.

Reviewing published works is another problem at times. I tried to review A TROUBLESOME INHERITANCE by Wade on Amazon three times, and was rejected three times, never with an explanation. I will try again, but they do seem to ‘tag’ books or reviewers.

    Reasonably on topic:
A couple of years ago (I think), someone here posted a link to an excellent, short text on how, step by step, people (like us) are ritually stigmatized and persecuted when they stray from the accepted ideas. I think the guy who wrote the text has also written books on fringe movements. The text I have in mind was called “Ritual [Something]”. I remember saving the link, but now I can’t find it.

Does anyone remember this? Do you have the link?

    1. White Republican says:
      April 4, 2015 at 6:35 am

I think you must be referring to Laird Wilcox’s article, “The Practice of Ritual Defamation”:

Since this is the only outlet I really have for my political beliefs, it saddens me to think that this website might be reduced to a right wing web hobby because of some lefties circlejerking over something they don’t like. They love diversity, but only when it suits their preference, so they might as well have no diversity at all. This small website has more political diversity than their entire branch of politics, and accusing it of being a supremacist website goes to show they don’t understand our politics. Everything is racist to them if they don’t like it.

I wish I could do something for you guys financially right now, but I’m on a college budget. I’ll be sure to spread some awareness for you guys though. I’ve told a few of my friends about this site and they all loved the content. For those that can’t donate to you financially, would you have any other ideas in mind we can direct our attention to that could help, like social media? Or would that be a bad idea? It’s just a thought.

    1. Greg Johnson says:
      April 8, 2015 at 3:56 am

      Thanks for these encouraging words.

One thing you can do that is a big help is to review our titles at Amazon.com. Reviews there really do help sales.
