This is for you, although you might not get
It. There’s going to be a lot of time
Between right now, when I am writing it
And when I hope you get to read it. I’m
Praying that if you don’t get to, it’s just
Because it’s been lost, not that we lost in
The end. I refuse to think that we must
Have not made it, that you don’t exist when
You ought to. We are fighting desperately
Right now, fighting for the soul and the heart
Of our people, and for a place that we
Rightly need to have our folk seen as part
And parcel of. If this reaches you, know
That we love you . . . so we did not forgo.
