Counter-Currents
I should forgive you, I know it, but I
Can’t do it. I can’t forgive you. Still, why
Do I feel guilty? You destroyed our past,
You ruined our future, (you were the last
Ones who had a future worth having, by
The way, thanks for leaving us high and dry
Thanks for not paying attention, thanks guys
For the world we’ve got now, it’s such a blast).
I should forgive . . .
I should forgive. I can’t forgive, it’s my
Burden, this understanding of the lies
You swallowed, the questions that went unasked
About the war you fought for those who cast
You as savior heroes in your own eyes.
I should forgive.

Imagine how much it hurts my german heart. At least you have the admiration and glory in every day life, us german people are tormented emotionally in our daily lives….only those who don’t have the ‘burden’ of knowing, off course. Those of us germans who have the strength of knowing, have the biggest brightest glowing lights in our hearts and souls, that nothing can extinguish. We went to hell and we’ve come back, nothing can ever be as bad as what we experienced. I could never be depressed not even for a moment knowing what the generations before me went through.
simply, eloquently, the best of who we are is expressed in these few words of juleigh and heike. thank you both.
Thanks, Tom, for speaking for so many.
I am honored. Thank you.
