The Voice of Reason Archive Project

Greg Johnson

153 words

The Voice of Reason podcasting network website has disappeared. Counter-Currents will be launching a new podcasting network, Counter-Currents Radio, in the near future. In the meantime, we will be putting new shows from former VOR hosts on our front page.

Unfortunately, when VOR went offline, it took its archives with it. Many VOR listeners, however, probably have MP3s of their favorite shows on their computers.

Counter-Currents will act as a hub to help former VOR hosts recover their show archives. If you have full or partial archives of such VOR shows as The Mark Weber Report, The Sunic Journal, Attack the System, The Stark Truth, The Fighting Side of Me, etc., please contact Mike Polignano at [email protected].

Note: Please do not email MP3s to Mike. Simply contact him, so he can arrange a more efficient way to transfer files.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can render.

Greg Johnson
Editor-in-Chief

Is there a reason why this happened? Were they shut down by their provider or something like that?

Mike Connor last updated the site on June 16. The last any host heard from him was early August. Whether he took down the site himself or just let its hosting lapse is not known.

I noticed that Mike Conner was showing signs of burnout back in June, and there is no question that he felt angry with Carolyn Yeager and personally betrayed by Tanstaafl. Beyond that, perhaps he did not feel sufficient support from his friends in this thing of ours, thus he has turned his back on the movement. It would not be the first time something like this has happened in our cause.

The bottom line is that idealism enough is not sufficient to sustain those of us who do this full time, as Mike did. If one feels that “the movement” takes more out of one psychically than one gets back from it, one is on the spiritual equivalent of a starvation diet, and eventually one has to pull back, simply out of self-preservation, and when that happens, of necessity many promises are broken and relationships are severed.

The disgusting madhouse atmosphere created in this movement by trolls, cranks, and creeps can take a definite psychic toll. It drives good people out or prevents them from ever getting involved in the first place. BUT THAT’S WHY THEY ARE THERE. I do not claim that they are ALL in the pay of our enemies. But when first class creeps show up, I think that the enemy does work to patronize, promote, and enable them to keep fouling our nest.

The worst show on VOR was easily the one hosted by Carolyn Yeager and I can see how working with that mad woman would drive one up the wall. She was always on the lookout for some ideological traitor or pursuing some asinine witchhunt and often this came down to some absurd splitting of hairs on absolutely trivial points. While I have no problem with Holocaust or WW2 Revisionism or thoughtful or heretical commentary on NS Germany or Hitler, her style and reactionary nature on this subject matter was of a lunatic variety. Her nature of historical inquiry was the mirror opposite of organized Jewry’s notorious guiding rubric – “is it good for the Jews?” Carolyn’s compass was guided by the rubric, “Does it make Hitler/NS Germany look good or bad?” She was never interested in truth but rather the spread of her own super narrow dogma – a gutter White Nationalist radio priest for malcontents. Her reckless nature and naked dogmatism was enough to drive any curious and intelligent newcomer to this area of study far away. Contrasted with the objecive and incisvie analyses offered by the likes of Mark Webber’s podcast or the good-spirited and informative conversations that Robert Stark brought us, she was the dreck at the bottom of the VOR. In short, the woman is an imbecile and does little to help the cause; her antics drive away the sort of responsible, normal White Americans that are needed for it. At any rate, I feel bad for Mike for having to deal with all the nutcase closet stormtroopers and conspiracy sleuths. Greg, you’re a voice of sanity among a lot of bitter creeps. All the best to you in your endeavors here and please don’t let the bastards drag you down.

Thanks for your kind words about me. Regarding Carolyn Yeager: I agree with your general view, but I am approving your comment as an object lesson in what I don’t want to get into here. Carolyn practices what I call the “Survivor” school of White Nationalism. The White Network, where whites go to talk to themselves, is a little island where a motley cast of characters is marooned. They then scheme with and against one another to vote people off the island on vice charges or grounds of ideological purity, until there is just one person left who has “won.” And the only reason anybody tunes in is a desire to entertain themselves watching destructive bloodsports and movement drama. I think that’s the wrong strategy, root and branch. Instead, I want to turn our attention outwards and engage the enemy along a number of cultural fronts.

If I recall correctly, Harold Covington once pithily commented on a movement suicide: “That’s one bullet that will never be fired at the enemy.” That’s true of all forms of movement “infighting” — including, I suppose, this comment. So let this be the end of it. If weasels want to climb in a sack together and shred one another, there’s nothing we can do about it, except not climb in ourselves. Let’s focus, from now on, on engaging the real enemy. Who knows, if we don’t fight with other WNs, maybe they will get bored and leave or actually start doing something constructive. Either way, the cause moves forward.

Understood. Your website needn’t be littered with potshots at various movement personalities. My reaction was a bit strong perhaps but was motivated by some conjecture at how she must have treated Mike, being well aware of her general character. And thanks for initiating the call for archivists – there were plenty of memorable programs on VOR that I wouldn’t mind hearing again someday that I’ve since deleted.

“Movement dramas” remind me of the words of Francis Parker Yockey’s essay, The World in Flames:

“The orchestra is in the pit, the spectators gape uncomprehending, the curtains rustle with expectation. The play is entitled ‘Where Ignorant Armies Clash by Night.’ Stupidity is in the lead, supported by Malice. The producer is Destruction, and the company is called The Forces of Darkness.”

I’m not sure that there’s any strategy involved in such dramas. Strategy requires foresight and imagination. It’s doubtful that those involved in such dramas truly want to work or to win. They confuse active defeatism with activism. Their script is typically short-sighted and self-serving. They will always find one reason or another to denounce this or that person or group, and to do little else but denounce this or that person or group. We are familiar with their logic, which is governed by paranoia and ressentiment. If a particular group has had few successes, it must be because its leader is grossly incompetent; but if it has many successes, it must be because it is a false opposition designed to neutralize real opposition. If they don’t like this or that person, it will be found that he is too extreme or too moderate, too much on the left or too much on the right. If a particular person agrees entirely with them, they praise him to the skies; but if he partially disagrees with them, they turn upon him with the fury of a jilted lover, taking the view of “wrong in one thing, wrong in everything.” If a particular person has been dragged through the courts, he must be a criminal; but if this hasn’t happened, it must be because he is a state agent. These people never explain why those they depict as nullities deserve so much attention, and how these nullities are preventing them from doing any constructive work themselves.

I really do think that a lot of this essentially nihilistic and self-indulgent behavior is premised on the deep emotional conviction that we really can’t win; we can’t beat the enemy; so we might as well just vent our spleen on one another.

      @ Andrew.

      Wow, quite a rant!

Like Carolyn or not, but she’s is not afraid of exploring avenues others avoid. I also think that her support for National Socialism is important since I believe that indoctrinated barriers against Hitler et al and the unquestioned acceptance of the holocaust are not peripheral issues. These are core issues that need to be overcome at popular level, and this is something our enemies seem to have understood better than we ourselves. Finally, while many others might not agree, Carolyn unambiguously puts the Jewish question at the centre of white nationalism (I happen to agree with her).

I agree with Andrew about Carolyn’s “passion” getting to one and I confess that there have been times when her continual interrupting of her guests had irritated me so much that I simply stopped listening (mind you, the same goes, or, I should say ‘went’ for Robert Stark – he’s improved significantly over the years.)

This brings me to my final point. Nationalist talk radio simply MUST pay more attention to delivery. I know! This goes against the grain for many people as it sounds like entertainment rather that “waking people up”. However, speakers need to have a very clear idea of not only who their audiences are, but also of why they are being addressed.

Put simply I guess there are really only two kinds of audiences – the already converted and the to-be-converted. It is especially the second group that needs ‘entertainment’, and, once again, like him or not, but Harold Covington’s style does a fantastic job in this area. People may not be flocking to the Northwest Front homeland my gut feeling is that Covington is sowing many more seeds than many others in the ‘waking up’ business.

Carolyn too has, I think, as her primary audience the to-be-converted, and here I think she can do lots (and I mean LOTS) to improve her delivery – not only by letting her guests speak, but also by being more organised. Fumbling about with lost notes just ain’t acceptable. On the other had, for example, I don’t see Fr. Raphael Johnson’s podcasts as aimed at the to-be-converted, but aimed at people already in the know. For this audience his delivery is perfect (actually, his show was, by far, my favourite).

You put a good deal of thought into this, so I am letting pass, albeit I removed a few invidious comparisons.

I agree that we should aim for professionalism. But sincerity goes a long way to compensate for flaws in delivery.

I agree with your views on the JQ, NS, but not on Holocaust revisionism.

I am not going to post any more discussion of Carolyn Yeager. I don’t wish to encourage any more polemics directed at fellow WNs.

Depressing news, I contacted Mike in early June and he said hoped to all shows back on the air the air at the end of the month. Losing the Sunic Journal and Orthodox Nationalist are the true heart breakers here. I realized last week was it that that VOR was down for the count just like Euro-Synergies. The loss of VOR is actually kind of devastating; coming so shortly after Jonathan Bowden’s death and the disappearance of the Euro-Synergies. Besides Counter-Currents, the aforementioned websites provided the only other consistent intellectual resources, outside of books, for us awake and adrift in the dying West. National Policy Institute stopped updating it’s blog what seems like a year ago, and Alternative Right doesn’t seem to post as much as it used it. Was glad to find out that the Political Cesspool is offering it’s archive for free again, after a stint of pay-for-listening. Counter-Currents stands alone. Long Live Counter-Currents! I am uninitiated with the relevant politics regarding “VNN/Linderstein” so it would be of interest to me – and maybe others – if you could kindly provide info or a link to the issue you have fingered. Thank you.

      2) Reassembly of the VoR podcast archive – and others.
I would like to promote here again the suggestion made by me elsewhere that any web or ftp archive whether of VoR podcasts or others be mirrored on a distributed basis via BitTorrent protocol. The .torrent file (small metadata file only, not content) could be upped to some site such as http://concen.org or another(s) with forums/messaging that allows potential downloaders to request re-seeding should the torrent begin to die for want of seeders, as well as to Internet Archive http://archive.org/details/bittorrent
However I would add the IA only as an adjunct as even it is beginning to exhibit signs of suppressive editorial bias and censorship which I will not elaborate here. Distributed resources seem a necessary backup given the increasing onslaughts on/bias of centralised server models whether for archived material or even search engines.

One more nail in the coffin of Movement Past can only be celebrated. A little history.

VOR began as the brainchild of Peter Shank, the only professional radio person we had. He did very well with his own show on Republic Broadcasting until he ran a straight down the middle interview with Bill White, and was fired before he left the station that night.

The name of VOR was Peter’s idea, as was the motto. Funny thing, it took soooo long for things to get started, with Peter’s show subject to interminable technical errors, and, if memory serves, Edgar Steele’s podcasts not quite making it to air. The Friday Night Frat Boys “News and Views About the Jews” show always went off with the most minute of technical hitches. Funny how that worked. I also laughed as one of the hosts bragged, “The Jews will never take us of the air.” Really? While using SHOUTCAST?

That so many here seem to take this operation seriously says more about Movement Present than I feel comfortable considering. It is as if we are starving for mere entertainment that we accept the thinnest of gruel gladly, and say, “Please, Sir, may I have some more?” Look at the caliber of people they attracted! I have stated in the past that, if I was a local rabbi, I would PAY the NSM to come out, in full Nazi regalia, to protest us. I would also GLADLY py to have the Friday Night NVJ (News and Views about the Jews) show run live, in all of its ineffective glory, from outside my temple, covering the entire thing. As long as VOR is in a coma, turn off the machines, and let them go from (inept!) being to the nothingness they truly offer.

That having been said, there is Hope,. and Matt hit upon it.

Matt in blockquote, bold added for emphasis:

Put simply I guess there are really only two kinds of audiences – the already converted and the to-be-converted. It is especially the second group that needs ‘entertainment’, and, once again, like him or not, but Harold Covington’s style does a fantastic job in this area. People may not be flocking to the Northwest Front homeland my gut feeling is that Covington is sowing many more seeds than many others in the ‘waking up’ business.

    Bingo.

I maintain that Covington, not realizing it, had an Initation event outside Chapel Hill High School on graduation day. He committed himself to insuring no other White students would go through the Hell he went through at that place.

The Northwest Republic is the fullest outworking of that moment, a Homeland for the Race, where none may make afraid.

Some time back, some person wrote a paragraph or two describing how David Eden Lane and his associates had developed a parallel political and economic system in the Northwest, finally taking over an abandoned small town, and breathing new life into it. As it grew in success, more and more White people fled the imploding economy, and the hostile political system, seeking a new life in the new town. Very few people, willing to take responsibility, could have a tremendous difference, and they did.

That is the smallest outworking of the Vision Covington has put before us.

Apparently, something called “The White Network” interviewed a Mr. Cobb, who, it seems, has plans for just such an activity. I suspect he has supporters for this. I suspect they are all fulfilling Covington’s Vision, without knowing it.

The last part is proof of the powerful correctness of Covington’s Vision.

We can start trying to conceptualize the steps required for the outworking of Covington’s Vision in our own lives, or we can join the high school cafeteria table cliques and their discussions, which is the best that can be said of what Movement Past has become in its dotage.

Seems like an easy choice to me. A world our Posterity can be proud of, with the Northwest republic as our Pole Star, our New Polaris, or more arguing with whoever is in the back seat over whether we should drive at full speed while looking solely at our rear view mirrors, or only half speed, looking solely at out rear view mirrors.

Let’s leave Yesterday’s Men (using the term loosely) and Yesterday’s Entertainment, in the rear view mirrors, and keep out eyes focused on the New Polaris. Make your Posterity proud of you.

Pretty effective, and a very useful model for us to adapt to our purposes.

In the interests of intellectual accuracy, no.

Covington has always given full credit to Pastor Butler, and his particular model for the fulfillment of the Northwest Imperative. Bluntly, Pastor Butler saw what he saw well enough to attract many families from Southern California.

The Northwest Republic isn’t the Butler Plan, “redacted.”

It’s what the Butler Plan could have been when it grew up; faster, smarter, better, and stronger.

Covington synthesized the best of what came before, but placed it in a new Analytical Framework; bold, and very assertive, the Northwest Republic offers us something to run TO, and not merely something to run away FROM. The latter simply limits you to mere survival; the former, unlimited conquest.

With respect to Pastor Butler, his Vision ended with a narrow definition, favoring ineffective means to fulfill negatively defined goals, in favor of untimely ends.

Covington ends “A Distant Thunder” – the book I am using to teach my Nephews how to read with – by including a message from our Mars Colony. THAT, if you have read Covington, would be the steppingstone for our return to the Stars.

The Northwest Republic is waiting for us to experience Childhood’s End, and to leave the crib we have outgrown. A motto for the educational system of the Northwest Republic: “Honor, Discipline, and the Stars.”

In the meanwhile, sending money to counter-currents regularly builds The Next Step for all of us.

No, we are not “taking over” VOR. VOR is dead. We are creating a new network that will give a place to some of the hosts from VOR as well as new shows that are in development.

Much will be different from VOR, in terms of both the technical infrastructure and the offerings.

If I had my way, it would all sound like the SNL parody of NPR, “Delicious Dish.” You know: anemic vegetarian hosts who sound like they are on quaaludes, breathlessly speaking about Evola and Guenon. Fortunately, Matt Parrott is going to be managing the new network, so there will be red meat on the menu.

We are trying to recover the VOR archives to make them available to the hosts, even those who are not coming aboard the new network, so that they can archive them themselves.

Not sure how trolls are the responsibility of the Left. I hate to say it, but in terms of dishonesty and sheer insanity, the WN “community” is worse than any Jews I have ever had dealings with. Food for thought.

Mike Conner has not resurfaced, however, so our plans for a new network continue as before.

I’m nauseated by Matt’s bringing Ms. Yeager into this forum. Is it okay that she and her stooges blasted personal insults against Greg in particular and Counter-Currents in general just to get attention — DON’T bother telling me her repulsive exercise of the Sampson Option was because she’s so passionate about NS. Carolyn Yeager is passionate about Carolyn Yeager, and when she left VoR, nothing was going to keep her in the shadows, even if she had to bring VoR and C-C down to get the spotlight.

A disgusting performance, and now Matt Parrott, seemingly being given a bigger role to play here at Counter-Currents drags her in with him.

Since Matt preaches “Do Nothing” – what difference does it even make who believes what.

For me, Counter-Currents is being massaged beyond recognition.

      MOB,

I am not sure what your concern is here.

Matt’s point is that if you are about to do something stupid that brings us into disrepute, it is better to do nothing.

It is essentially the same point of my “First, Do No Harm” essay.

But what Matt is helping us do is quite good: We need a new podcasting network that fills the VOR void.

There is no need to discuss Carolyn here, even to condemn her. Tan has given her all the rope she needs to hang herself.

      Have faith.

      Things are looking up.

    Update:

Apparently a former VOR producer (not Mike Conner) who still had login privileges logged into VOR and paid the hosting bill to get the site and its archives back online. Thank you!

But nonetheless, the project of shuffling the archives over to C-C is still going ahead in case it goes offline again, right?

We will only host the archives of shows by people who join the CC network. We recommend that other hosts archive their shows while they are available.

I wasn’t a VOR listener. I listened to one or two Stark’s interviews with you and bits and pieces of Matt’s radio shows.

We are creating a new network that will give a place to some of the hosts from VOR as well as new shows that are in development.

Would you consider adding some sort of bio page to CC? A page giving a few details about the hosts and their areas of interest would be helpful for me and possibly others (new visitors?) who weren’t VOR listeners.

May I ask WHY you do NOT agree with Matt’s views on Holocaust revisionism?

Is this just a matter of being a “non-starter issue” because of the demonization of NS Germany vis-a-vis Jewish-owned mainstream media and Jewish-controlled academia?

Or is it based on “facts” that the rest of the world [including up and coming WN] do not have?

Mr. Johnson, please, do elaborate, for the rest of us ignorant white nationalists…

Why make something that is about US (our sense of morality) about the Jews (and their unscrupulous nature)? What is it we’re trying to overcome? No, Hitler wasn’t Satan’s spawn. The Germans weren’t all “brainwashed.” But focusing on Jewish distortions (both real Jewish distortions or possibly imagined Jewish distortions on the part WN) is all really beside the point.

What if the Holocaust really happened just like how Hollywood said it did? Would you embrace self-denial, then? The Scandinavians slaughtered many “innocent” monks before they converted Christianity. To venerate the Vikings, is it necessary to go into details about Christian historical bias and Christian moral distortions or any possible misunderstandings that may have taken place between the Viking raiders and Christian monks? My admiration for the Vikings has nothing to do with the details of that type of discussion. Nor does my respect for the National Socialists.

Incidentally, I hope Mark Weber will be joining C-C.
