Thanks for Bruckner. If I had heard this music before, it would be the one I played for my dad when he was dying. Come on Dad, climb the mountain and soar. Of course, my step-mom was probably right in choosing maudlin soothing stuff. One would have thought she’d play at least Liszt’s Benediction
And death shall have no dominion.
A sight for sore eyes in these days of the Jewish/Asian takeover of the American classical music world:
Wilhelm Backhaus – Beethoven: Piano Concerto No.4 – Wiener Symphoniker – Karl Böhm
Beethoven Sonata No. 8 ‘Pathetique’ Mov. 2 – Wilhelm Kempff
Hans Knappertsbusch, Wilhelm Backhaus, Birgit Nilsson in Concert – Beethoven, Wagner (Wien 1962)
