Counter-Currents/North American New Right Newsletter: February 2011

[1]1,273 words

Dear Friends,

I want to begin by thanking our donors. There are now 23 individuals making monthly donations to Counter-Currents, and seven additional donors have sent non-recurring donations. That is 30 people. Thank you for helping us to survive and grow.

This sort of support is essential. Our books pay for themselves and produce a small profit. But they represent only a fraction of our readership.

The vast bulk of our readers come to our website. But when was the last time any of you paid to read things online? Frankly, I have never done that. The “com” in dot-com seems to stand for “communism,” in the something-for-nothing sense of the word.

I am not complaining. That is reality. But it takes a lot of time and effort to create a webzine like Counter-Currents/North American New Right, and since we can’t charge for content, we need to appeal for donations to the committed few who want to keep this material available for themselves and others.

1. The Vanguard

The 30 individuals who have made donations to Counter-Currents are just over 10% of the people who are on this mailing list, and the mailing list is a small fraction of our regular readers. We call the group of people who have made, or pledged to make, donations of $120 or more in a year “the Vanguard”: they went first. They did not wait to follow others. There are 27 so far, which is exactly 10% of the 270 people on this list.

I want to increase that number to 100 this month. If you have been thinking about supporting our efforts, now is the time to begin. Consider beginning at just $10/month (the price of 2 visits to Starbucks, which is owned, by the way, by a highly ethnocentric Jew who is a major donor to Jewish charities, including groups like the ADL that are scourges of our people).

You can make two different types of donations:

To make a donation, click https://counter-currents.com/donate/ [2]

One incentive to join the Vanguard is that we have decided to limit the deluxe hardcover edition of our annual journal North American New Right to 200 numbered copies, which will be available only to Vanguard members, i.e., donors who give $120 or more in a given year, either in lump sums or by monthly donations.

The donation page also explains other incentives available to monthly donors: https://counter-currents.com/donate/ [2]

2. The Amazon.com Affiliate Program

I also want to thank those of you who have been using Counter-Currents affiliate links to make your purchases at Amazon.com. If you follow one of these links and make a purchase, Amazon.com gives Counter-Currents a referral commission at no additional cost to you.

In February, 149 items were ordered this way, and Counter-Currents received just over $200 in commissions, 7% of the purchase price. This is particularly impressive, given that only a small percentage of our readers are actually using these linksonly around 10% of the people on this newsletter list. (This is an estimate. Amazon.com protects your privacy even when you buy through an affiliate link.) If everyone reading this were to take part in this program, our support would grow considerably.

If you have Amazon.com bookmarked on your computer, click the following link and then replace your bookmark with the page that appears. This will allow you to go directly to Amazon.com, and Counter-Currents will receive the same commission.

This link takes you to the Non-Fiction Books page. For some reason, Amazon.com will not allow us to construct a link to their home page. If there is a particular Amazon.com page to which you usually go first, email me [4] and let me know, and I will happily construct a custom affiliate link for you. It is that important that we make it easy for you to participate.

3. Our Newest Title

Our fourth book (and our first work of fiction), Andy Nowicki’s novella The Columbine Pilgrim is now at the printers. Click here [5] to order your copy today.

About 20 copies of the limited hardcover edition of my Confessions of a Reluctant hater remain. Click here [6] to purchase.

4. Our Blog Continues to Thrive

In January we published 72 posts and 673 comments. Since we went online on June 11, 2010, we have published a total of 669 online pieces and 2,466 comments.

In February, we also began to publish work by several new writers: Jef Costello [7], Christian Miller [8], and Gregory Hood [9].

5. Our Readership and Web Traffic Continue to Rise

Our full traffic statistics are printed below, but I can’t resist mentioning that in February, we had 61,519 visits (up from 60,005 in January) from 29,737 unique visitors (up from 28,546), who looked at 213,121 pages (up from 198,008 ) and racked up an astonishing 2,081,558 “hits” (up from 1,733,531). Also, bear in mind that February is 3 days shorter than January, yet we still exceeded January’s numbers across the board.

6. I Continue to Write

In addition to my editorial work, I personally wrote 8 new posts (for a total of 57) and did 3 new translations (for a total of 35), one of which, an interview with Alain de Benoist, appeared as four separate posts.

7. Our Articles Continue to be Reprinted

In February, 9 more of our articles were published on Robert Steuckers’ Euro-Synergies [10], the leading European New Right blog. A total of 79 articles have now been reprinted at Euro-Synergies, 11.8% of our total output of 669 posts. For a full report, click here [11].

Euro-Synergies, furthermore, is not the only site reprinting our material. See also The West’s Darkest Hour [12] and Thoughts Against Time [13].

8. Our Articles Continue to be Translated

In February, 7 more translations of articles from Counter-Currents appeared in German and Czech, and others may well be out there. We now count 49 translations into German, Russian, and Czech. We would love to encourage more translations. Since websites come and go, and we do not want these translations to be lost, we are bringing them online here. For a full report, click here [14].

10. What’s Coming Next

Our forthcoming books are:

Other books in the works include titles by Julius Evola, Alain de Benoist, Edmund Connelly, and Trevor Lynch, plus new titles from Michael O’Meara and Greg Johnson.

All told, February was an exciting month and there is every reason to think that Counter-Currents–and our movement as a whole–will continue to grow as the system around us continues to decline. It is an illustration of the principle that those who fight for the Golden Age live in it today.

Thank you again for your loyal readership and support.

Yours sincerely,

Greg Johnson
