Call for Editors & Reviewers

[1]544 words

I am looking for a number of volunteers to serve as “Contributing Editors” for Counter-Currents/North American New Right so that we can expand our offerings in the six areas outlined below.

The role of a contributing editor is threefold: (1) to identify materials for publication or review on this site, (2) to write occasional articles and reviews and build up a stable of reliable writers, and (3) to identify materials that should be reprinted or translated for this site.

1. Fine Arts

I am looking for articles on individual artists and artistic movements, as well as reviews of exhibitions (preferably ones with catalogs), picture books, and biographies.

2. Contemporary Music

I would like to publish regular reviews of contemporary music: pop, rock, folk, etc., with a focus on music associated with racially conscious musical subcultures like neo-folk, martial-industrial, and the various permutations of black metal. I would also like to run reviews of more mainstream music that in some way meshes with our metapolitical agenda, either by being particularly piquant illustrations of the reigning values or by challenging them in promising ways. Music reviews should be 400–500 words. Review essays dealing with multiple releases and articles profiling artists and genres will of course be larger. Books dealing with contemporary music also fall under this editor’s purview.

3. Contemporary Films

Our current movie reviewer [2] has been too busy of late, and frankly it has never been easy to get him to see movies before they end up on DVD. This editor’s role is primarily to keep track of the latest movies that might be of interest to our readers and either review them or arrange to have them reviewed. Classic movies and DVDs are fine as well, but we really need someone who keeps track of current releases. Books and articles on actors, directors, and film history also fall under this editor’s purview.

4. YouTube Videos

There are some amazing videos out there on YouTube, but I don’t have the time and patience to search for them. I am looking for short documentaries, music videos, interviews, lectures, etc. that mesh with our metapolitical agenda. The editor for this series should also craft brief “sprintros” to contextualize each video, but otherwise no writing is required.

5. Broadcasts & Podcasts

I am looking for someone who follows this genre to find works that fit our editorial line. No writing aside from brief sprintros is required.

6. Graphic Novels, Cartoons, Comics, & Video Games

I am just too old and too square to follow these vast and influential fields of popular culture. I would like this editor to (1) write reviews of significant graphic novels, cartoons, comics, and video games; (2) comment on their general cultural significance, and (3) review books about these fields, for example the spate of recent books on the role of Jews in creating the comics industry. Movies based on comics and graphic novels also fall under this purview. Michael Bell’s video game reviews [3] are exemplary. So too are Trevor Lynch’s Hellboy [4] and Batman [5] reviews.

I can’t pay you for your work. I can’t even pay myself. But I can offer you an outlet for your creativity and idealism, meticulous editorial input, and the excitement of being part of a growing movement. Please Email [6] me if you wish to learn more.
